Calling out Honda Motor Co for Fit/Jazz design fault (door/trunk leaks)

I've been visiting this forum on and off for years--ever since my first leaks began appearing (2007 Fit Sport AT). At the time (around 2010, maybe earlier) I didn't think much of it; an annoyance that I assumed was an anomaly...wet boots, a spill, whatever.

But the leaks turned out to be persistent; the trunk leak somehow getting worse and then, just the other day, discovering mold around the edges of the carpeting behind the passenger seat (right side), right under where my daughter has been sitting...for 8 years. Disgusting.

When I contacted Honda Motor Co. and BBB Auto, I pointed out that, while the vehicle is now well out of the warranty period, the fact that it is a pervasive issue among other owners points to a design flaw. That fact changes things from "Something is broken" to "You sold me something you knew to be broken". Worse: when they got in touch with me they lied about knowing about the issue; the usual line from a company that does not want the financial burden and headache.

I took it upon myself to find posts here--stretching all the way to 2006--where owners have identified the same problem, whether US or UK, and who themselves contacted Honda corporate and/or their dealerships in trying to address the problem. I have to wonder how much of their own money that Fit/Jazz owners have spent trying to get this fixed at dealerships--wasted on door seals etc--and the thousands of Fit/Jazz owners who may not even be aware that this is a *known issue* for these cars going all the way back to first models.

I don't know where this will lead but I don't like being lied to and, more importantly, WHEN the issue has been brought to their attention, persisting with the same lie is just not on.

I reminded them that there are already two recent, high profile examples of what happens to car companies when they stall, deflect blame, or outright lie to consumers: Toyota and VW.

Same with the Ford SPI engines from the Escorts/Focuses over the years....google "dropped valve seat"...a lot of engines were destroyed, Ford has NEVER acknowledged the problem. Happened to my old beater '03 Focus, but that was OK....IT "forced" me to buy my Fit😎
