Fit wrecked today in Tumwater Washington

unfortunatly My Fit was badly hit today... Click on my photo bucket to see the pictures.... It is under 2007 fit
For any one that drives and alows others to wave the O.K. to turn across oncoming traffic which you are yielding think again.
A driver gave the signal for a stopped car to turn left, yeah, right infront of me. I did not have a chance to do anything.... Click on link to see the wreck

So you were stopped, and the guy made a left into you? Or did someone going the same going same direction as you yielded to a guy on the right, who made the left while you were going straight?

Glad you're okay. sucks tho. US has bad drivers

I was traveling 35 mph and the car that pulled accross my lane was simply trying to make a left turn. I had the right of way... I did not have any time to do anything... The collision stopped me within 6 to ten feet
I was traveling in Number one lane doing 35 mph. The car next to me in #2 lane was stopped to let an oncoming car turn accross our lane. It was an SUV which blocked my sight.... The person I hit was being helped by a helpfull driver who left the scene.... According to WA state law they were liable for giving permission to oncoming traffic. Does this make sence

Ouch...at least I can see now where the airbag comes out! You can tell with the creases in the steering wheel and the pic confirms.

Is your car relatively new? I say that b/c the passenger airbag tag is still on...that got taken off mine the day I brought it home.

Relatively new too. You still had that caution tag on your glove compartment box hanging out!

Aw That sucks. I hate when people cut across lanes in the middle of traffic to make left turns. That sort of move can cause all kinds of accidents, especially when you're making a turn across multiple lanes. And, the "nice person" (aka idiot) that let the guy go was a coward for fleeing the scene - the accident was partially his fault! I'm sorry about your Fit, but I'm glad you're all right.

Good thing you are ok though. If it is totaled would you be able to get me the little rear strut covers I have some and want to mod them but if i mess up I wont have any backups..

TO echo the sentiments of the rest glad to hear you are ok and that there were not any serious injuries. And that sucks the idiot who waved the car to turn left the scene. Never signal drivers or pedestrians to do anything, you become liable if something bad happens.

Sorry to hear about your accident but I'm glad you are OK.

That was quite a bit of damage. Good evidence that the FIT is safe at that speed in a crash.

Makes sense to drive defensively as much as possible.

Sorry about your accident. And thanks for posting the pic of the damage. it looks like the car is still in perfect shape after the firewall. In front of that it's a mess.

Such a sad sight to see. I was shocked at the damage, but also amazed at how well protected you were. The front end crumpled so well, and saved you from getting badly hurt. Glad you're doing okay now. You definitely made the right choice buying the Fit, based on all the standard safety equipment it comes with. Please update us on what happens with the driver(s) of the other car(s), and getting your car fixed up or getting a new one.

Glad you're ok, the car is a mess.

As for the one that told them it was clear to go being liable. Absolutely, otherwise people would and some do exactly what happened to you. Tell others it's clear when it's not.

However that in no way relieves the other driver from their responsibility for going when it wasn't clear. They should have made sure it was clear and not taken a strangers word for it. So they pay for the wreck.

If they can find the one that told them to go then they can sue them. It may be that you could go after them but I would hold the other vehicles driver responsible for the damages due to their negligence and let them try and find the one they "claim" told them to go.

Sorry for your loss.

Glad to hear you are alright. Hopefully you don't need to go through too much physio after this incident.

Good luck on dealing with insurance as well. Hope you will end up with another Fit some time in the future.
