I have been keeping an eye on the website, I noticed they have been updating it a day or so before Friday with Secret Street and also if they are running autocross.

I think I am even up for a drag race now

I should be good for one more day of playing around on a track this year with my worn tires on the rear before I have to get new ones... which is good because I can't afford to do anything until probably spring. Why, Why does Justin have to part out now!!! *sob*

I go every Friday to spectate but the Fit will only be raced at that Auto X event in a few weeks and then it will be retired back to it's daily driven mode.

I'll have something fun to race around in soon enough

I think I may have found my perfect "beater" Auto-X car for next year It also somehow falls into a DS stock catagory.

Manual, AWD, 235 wide tires, 300hp & 295ft/lbs of torque, lighter compared to other similar AWD cars, OEM suspension package & a 0.88g road holding on the skid pad..... all this and probably one of the safest cars around

Specs:
2004 Volvo S60 R specs, auto safety at Edmunds

My beater will own that car with less power, money and weight but it won't be in DS Stock

^^^ Sure Sure

I look forward to the challange!

Still trying to figure out why the S60R is a DS class. All of it's direct competition from that production year is slotted into a higher class (M3, 330i sport package, G35, S4, C32 AMG) even though on paper it has better performance results than many of those.

The Volvo even has tricked out 3 way adjustable suspension controlled electronically from inside the cabin as well as big Brembo brakes on this car. Also imagine if I moved it into a modified class; the amount of safety stuff that could be removed would lighten it right up

Volvo S60R AWD - Road Test/Luxury Sedans/Car Shopping/Hot Lists/Reviews/Car and Driver - Car And Driver

I was looking at the G35 too, but it has staggered tires (245-R/225-F) which would be kind of pain to rotate.

I think the important thing to note is that on paper a lot of cars are better than others and in real life they just aren't.

I have heard some dissapointing things about the R line that volvo has.

Awwwww

So... what about this car you have in mind? What class or is it going to be a spec car for that other series?

This sounds like fun... wish I could get away from the family to partake, maybe when my son is old enough we will go together... although racecity won't be around then... I haven't read the whole thread, does anyone know if they found a new home yet?

Not quite yet.

Nick the spec series may happen mostly to the north of Calgary and if that's the case I won't be building a spec car as it would cost too much for all that travelling.

If they can confirm it will take place next year in Calgary, I will most likely build a 92-95 civic hatchback with a b16sir 2 swap, stripped interior, couple racing seats, bolt ons and a good suspension/wheel/tire setup.

If it's not for a spec series, I will have to attend a few events and see where I could be competitive for not too much coin.

Either way the car will be a 92-95 hatch or a 96-00 hatch with it's stock engine at first and only suspension work and eventually some type of swap.

I have been aching to do a K series

Sweet, looking forward to seeing what you end up doing!

My biggest problem will be dumping not too much money into something. So I have to buy relitivly new and competitive car right off the bat and go for a stock class.. otherwise I will just end up sinking in way too much dough. The Fit is a monumental testemant to that, I was only ever supposed to buy rims & tires darn it all!!

I really want to pick up a RWD coupe of some kind, but I can't find anything I am really happy with... that or it is classed so high I can't see it being competitive.

I know I'll spend too much on that civic and modding it but that's what I like doing so I'm fine with that.

The wife doesn't even mind it as long as we have food on the table, everyone is wearing decent clothes and we can buy a few treats here and there so it's all good.

My goal is to find the car probably before or just after new year and start slowly building it so it's ready to go in May.
