April 25 Event 1 Lethbridge Exhibition park.

July 4/5 Event 2-3 Lethbridge Exhibition park.

August 8 Event 4 Lethbridge Exhibition park.
August 22 Event 5 Lethbridge Exhibition park.
I think the CSCC schedule might be a bit tough for me personally, anybody else planning to run a season?

Mr_ET 02-11-2009 10:13 AM

I might run a couple events from each if they come to town but I don't think I want to do this much traveling this year .

I will also concentrate on Solo 1/SoloSpring more since it involves driving on a real track vs driving in a parking lot with cones.

Sugarphreak 02-11-2009 10:34 AM

SASC doesn't have a single event here planned; as for the CSCC they are still waiting on confirmation for those Race City dates.

My car doesn't have the abilitiy to do road racing, I need way more juice under the hood & my brakes will probably fade away in a couple of laps.

Sugarphreak 02-12-2009 12:53 PM

Some news

SASC may have a Calgary Venue after all, we may see more dates & events pop up on the calander.

Mr_ET 02-12-2009 01:40 PM

linky? If they do I will probably run them "for fun" not through a membership since I wouldn't attend most other events outside of Calgary

Sugarphreak 02-12-2009 01:54 PM

This is the info I spotted on SASC website today

I would imagine if they get it you could expect maybe 4 or 5 events here

The membership pays for itself in about 3 or 4 events compared to paying for it as a guest, it not a bad deal.

Sugarphreak 02-13-2009 11:22 AM

Memberships for SASC just went up, is 30$ for a single membership

damn that's cheap, is there a max number of participants? i'd like to wait and see if any Calgary events come up.

Sugarphreak 02-13-2009 12:49 PM

They cap each event, I think 40 max?

Is a good deal, if the Calgary venues come through I am signing up for sure. I am not crazy about driving to Lethbridge every time.

Sugarphreak 02-28-2009 11:06 PM

They are saying they need people to fill certain roles to go ahead with the Calgary events right now.

I think they want to run 5 events here in Calgary, if you guys have any time to volunteer it might go a long way to helping our cause.

I know I am not really planning to drive all the way out to Lethbridge, would be nice if the Calgary stuff comes through.

I am considering capping the entry to our event this year esp. in Calgary for better control of the events. Therefore volunteers with a dedicated position will always have a spot reserved for them. I think that at the very least fair to the helpers. Less people => more runs too. http://sascsolo.ca/forums/style_emot...fault/wink.gif

Last time I volunteered I helped out with the safety tech inspections, I also spent a few minutes afterwards helping clean up the cones. Is pretty simple stuff, but it goes a long way to helping get the events setup and started, plus you get to know some of the more experienced guys while you are at it.

Mr_ET 03-01-2009 12:56 AM

I told them I would volunteer for registrations and timing if needed. I am in for sure.

Can you link us so we can reply in that thread?

Sugarphreak 03-01-2009 01:02 AM

Sure, no problem;

Either thread should be ok to reply in.

SoloPro Driving School Sign up/interest - SASC Forum

Anybody going to sign up? I have a feeling spots will dissapear quickly.

Mr_ET 03-04-2009 03:10 PM

I will be doing the one as part of the solosprint series
2009 Solo Sprint Series - Dates

Sugarphreak 03-06-2009 11:43 PM

I am signing up for both days of the SASC one,

it is pretty steep for price, but they are having some good instructors come to Calgary to teach the course. I really want to get started off right this year.

Mr_ET 03-07-2009 09:31 AM

I am sure the series I want to participate in will rape my wallet good so I can't afford both plus tires, an alignement, a new gauge cluster (like the one in my living room right now) and possibly a front lip and camber kits front and back :P

Sugarphreak 03-07-2009 08:17 PM

Would be better if it was like 250$ for both days, lol

Sugarphreak 03-18-2009 12:36 AM

WHOOO-HOOOO!!!

Sweet, is going to be AWESOME!! lol

I am thinking about heading to Lethbridge for event 1

Sugarphreak 05-26-2009 10:32 AM

I thought I would bump this thread for an update:

Basically SASC is changing up the basic concept of their events, because they only have 4 or 5 there probably won't be any kind of official championship.

Instead they are going to be putting emphasis on seat time and making them more fun.

I think it should be a good mix, there is one coming up next month on the 27th. It sounds like they are going to be capped really low (to maximize seat time) so signing up early will be key to getting in.

The good news is they are local and the lot is great, if you guys even just want to come and try it out it would be worth it!

JDMish 05-26-2009 12:54 PM

The 27th looks to be open for me.

So will this be at the same place as last weekend? Grey eagle casino?
BTW what website are you checking, the sasc forums seems to be dead right now.

JDMish 05-26-2009 12:54 PM

nm, i was hoping for pics from the event but i guess not yet :(

Mr_ET 05-26-2009 01:15 PM

pics of Nicks car in thread below

I should be able to bring out the civic on the 27th :)

That site is always dead :p

That is what Ambrose was saying in the preliminary schedule thread; they already have the lot at Grey Eagle casino booked agian for the 27th.

I will post up something as soon as sign up becomes availiable.

Sugarphreak 05-29-2009 03:35 PM

Anybody interested in going down to Westerner Park (Red Deer.. see link) on June 13th for an event?

Westerner Park

It is hosted by CSCC, cost is 30$ for non-members

Mr_ET 05-30-2009 01:08 AM

it's part of the autoslalom 2 series so there will probably be lots of people to compete against Nick I'm out for that one.

Sugarphreak 06-01-2009 03:27 PM

PRE-REGISTRATION SOMETIME TODAY (For June 27th @ Grey Eagle Casino) :wavey:

I doubt it will take more than a day to fill up once word gets around!

(checking here later on, it should pop up sometime today)
Karelo.com - Organization Details - Southern Alberta Solosport Club

Sugarphreak 06-01-2009 05:27 PM

ITS OPEN!!

And it is already 20% full, sign up ASAP before word gets out. It is capped at 30 drivers, should give lots of seat time.

Cost is 40$ for non-members, 25$ for SASC members & there is a discount in there for affiliate members.

Mr_ET 06-01-2009 09:05 PM

The event was at racecity on the full roadcourse.

I finished mid pack of the slowest group but I had the lowest hp car out of every single car there lol.

I was in a group with a evo II e30 m3, a 1980's 911 3L, roadcourse prepped camaro z28, a lotus elise and my car :P

I was ahead of a 2008 si, 2006 rsx-s, a couple of vettes, a 540i, a MB 560SEL :P.

The fastest car of the day was an 850whp z06 2005 vette running hoosier a6 295 fronts 345 rears lol.

He ran a 1:20 I ran a 1:38.8 lol.

Sugarphreak 06-01-2009 11:22 PM

Nothing wrong with that, sounds like fun man!

Was that Vette Jay by any chance?

Mr_ET 06-02-2009 08:35 AM

yeah :P crazy stuff

Sugarphreak 06-05-2009 04:50 PM

So the Casino double booked the event on the 27th... there will now be a 20,000sq/ft tent on that site at the same time

Mr_ET 06-05-2009 07:14 PM

let's race in the tent!

Sugarphreak 06-05-2009 09:52 PM

While fun... I don't think it is going to happen

Sounds like it is being rescheduled for one of the weekends right after... but I will miss the event now because I am gone for 2 weeks starting from the 28th

Mr_ET 06-05-2009 11:01 PM

I have an event in Edmonton the weekend after how will reimbursement work?

I guess they will have to confirm the new date and reimburse anybody who can't make it?
