Audio Equipment for grabs

Well I guess it is time to part with some of my beloved gear

I have been hanging onto it so that if I ever get another car I can stuff it full of overkill audio stuff, but it isn't looking like I will be getting anything soon that meets that criterea.

Anyway, it has been taking up space and devaluing like crazy so I might as well sell it to somebody who can get some good use out of it.

I will post it up here locally so you guys can have first dibs;

Stuff up for sale:

TWO - 10" Apline Type-R subs (140$ obo)
All I can say is these are amazing, they are the first gen subs that have a full 3" excursion (much better than the 2nd gen that came out recently). One has a black mark on the cone, but they both work perfectly. They put out a much deeper bass than expected from 10's and require very little space if you use a sealed box. They retailed for 300 each at the time when I bought them, I think the new ones are like 200$-ish now.

1000 D-class Watt Clarion 2chn Amp (200$ obo... sigh, this is very cheap)
Before Clarion canned thier pro-audio stuff and started producing run of the mill equipment this amp was made. It has a retardedly low total harmonic distortion (THD) and a very good S/N ratio. I ran the Apline D-class amp before with the above subs, I switched to this because you get more power with better quality. It also puts out 300RMS per channel, it is also bridgeable & a perfect match for two R-type subs.

400 Watt Clarion 4chn Amp (120$ obo)
Clarion pro-audio amp, is good, paid about 450$ for it.

2006 JVC head unit (250$ obo)
http://www.buy.com/prod/jvc-kdshx750-am-fm-cd-receiver/q/loc/111/202877104.html

MP3, Sirius compatable, SD card, 256 color screen, full customizable 10 second clips (with lots of pre-loaded ones too, will throw in my custom clips for free), BBE high def sound capabilities, retarded head unit sound quality ... yada yada yada, really not happy about selling it. Paid something like 500 USD and used it for 4 months before I bought the Fit.

Rockford Fosgate 1 Farad Capacitor... 35$obo
Is good, comes with mounting clips

Misc stuff, free with any purchase
Lots of thick wire, 100amp fuse, a harness for a Jeep Cherokee

Anyway, feel free to bring offers.

Cheers,
-SP

Never... they were in my Jeep Cherokee... they have been sitting around for like 2 years now.

I blew out all the window seals on my jeep, rattled the rear view mirror off and I am partially deaf in my left ear.... they are awesome subs.

As you can see.... I had plans, but I never got around to it

These are some pics, the box is long gone though

Yeah I used to be obsessed with the stuff, testing and playing around for the right combination of quality & powerful sound.

Shipping for those subs will be pretty pricey, they are really heavy. You should see if you can find some locally before you commit to these ones.

Kicker makes some good ones although I used to blow them up pretty easily. I blew three 15's, two 10's and a 12" in only 2 years... I was running clean power at 20% under the RMS ratings for them too. But this generation of Alpine-R's are still my favorite sub. The new gen with the ribbed surround just doesn't seem to pound the same to me. The ratings are weird too, mine are rated for 300 watts RMS with 1000 watt peak. The new ones are 500 RMS with 1000 Peak... seems like they are cooking the numbers now to me.

The only thing I would have changed is the power supply, this system needs way more power than my Jeep could provide and the capacitor didn't really cut it. I could easily blow the 100amp fuse too. I really needed an optima battery mounted becide the box with a 5 farad capacitor.

For anybody who doesn't want to blow out windows and set off car alarms from accross the street you can just turn it down to half volume and have pretty much the highest quality bass ever concieved.... if you watched the movie "8 Mile", the part where the lowered SUV pulls up to the house and a bunch of guys get out to kick the crap out of eminem... well the stereo they have is what it would sound like at about 30-40% volume.
