That is me, lol

Actually Cpat was there too with his SSM GD3 Fit on black rims with red lip.

That was our club test & tune, I have a lot of things to tweak on my car for the real events this year!

Good photo.

Yeah it was surprising how many spectators watched part of the event. My main work, I think, need to be to the driver (more consistent runs) and fine tune the tire pressure. My times are all over the place when compared to other's.

Looking forward to the Solo Pro School in three weeks.

BTW, CPat... I was looking at the final results and it confused me, my PAX is lower than yours despite I have the same tires and I am running a more modified car.

The reason is because in ST you don't get a tire modifier... you are actually much better off in my car class, it will actually put you in a better position on the PAX results.

I find the whole thing very confusing, by all rights you should have placed better than me on the PAX results.

Yeah seems overly confusing - what's the point of having the street touring classes at all? The fast people have fast raw times too, so I've been looking at raw times mostly as the PAX seems to arbitrarly group together some cars anyway.

I am leaning towards running in FSP? for the SASC events.
I'd like to do some of the CSCC events, and maybe the WCMA regionals this year too and everyone has slightly different rules. ie the CSCC doesn't have a street tyre modifier and the ST class is called STS and the regular STS is STS2...

I know that SASC follows the SCCA very closely for rules and classifications.

From what Murray was telling me the ST class is paxed on street tires rather than R-comps... but for FSP if you were at an SCCA event you would pretty much be expeted to run R-comps.

For SASC they want to keep it affordable, so they have a tire modifier in place so you can run street tires and still be competitive. This modifier is making FSP lower than ST... which is kind of goofy, but you may as well take advantage of it.

Really for SASC you will want to run in FSP... unless you switch to R-comps, then you would stick to ST. At other events without the tire modifier then ST is better as well.

Tire modifiers are pretty common, a set of R-comps is often way too much for a recreational driver so it is a nice way to even things out a bit. The hardcore guys hate it though... lol.

Yeah this is an expensive enough sport as it is without R-Comps. Overall I agree with the concepts of tyre modifier's and PAX; I just don't think our cars necessarily fit into the catch-all categories all that well. But we choose to drive them (for now anyway )
If I don't get the understeer out of the driver, then I wouldn't be surprised to almost go through a set of tyres this summer.

PM'd Murray for future events; ST is crazy-a vehicle classed ST can be as high as DSP when switching to street prepared. For them, it isn't worth switching.

Heading out to Victoria next weekend and would really like to talk my brother into swinging by the Victoria Porsche Club's event...
There's another one at Saratoga Speedway too on the May long, but I'll be trying to get back for work that day - plus it costs $60 (yikes)

Well you did exceptionally well, you will fit right in for FSP for SASC at least!

I did about 12 events in total last year, my RE11's are still holding up pretty good so far. I am not planning on another set so I hope they last me for this season too.

Saratoga Speedway? I know that place very well, I grew up in CR!

The guy who spotted u guys go to the VCMC event here with me in BC. He now works in Calgary but always itching to autocross a bit.

Whoa if u guys are driving all the way from Calgary to Victoria for an event? Talk about hardcore guys ...I've never thought of going to Victoria for an event coz I think just ferry cost way too much. Somehow I think I can spend that $ on food/gas/motel on a trip down to WA & enjoy a bigger track there I guess?

Eric Man who was on here before is gonna do a lapping event @ Mission Raceway this Wednesday. And then he will be heading down to Pacific Raceway on the May long weekend to do a Porsche club event down there. I will most likely head down there to spectate on that long weekend and then running with him & my brother @ Pacific Raceway on July25.

Really hope I will get to do a lapping event @ mission or PR with either/both of you guys in the future.

Yeah we should try to meet for an Alberta/BC autocross for Fitfreak sometime, would be kind of cool to get a whole bunch of Fits at one event... especially with how well they perform, lol.

I know there are a bunch of weekends in Vernon happening, but I wasn't impressed with the format they run.... 2 runs in the morning, 2 in the afternoon. It was only 40 cars, they should have been able to run 4 in the morning and 4 in the afternoon. Plus despite the 40$ entry fee then they charged 2$ for fun runs (wtf?). Oh and to top if off they added a bunch penalty points to my fastest clean run after I left town Strangest thing, the run slip & the board both said it was clean... then after I left and the online results went up I had 3 points tacked on. I sent them an e-mail, they said I hit a stop box cone. I double checked with my sponsor for the event who was spectating, he said it was without a doubt clean.

I was planning to go there for a few events, but I would rather go somewhere that runs a tighter ship and gives you more seat time. Driving 6 hours for a 4 run event that they add a bunch of penalty points is BS.

Vancouver must have a few good ones, the Smart club usually does a track day out there... I think they invited the Fit guys out a while back. Tons of seat time from what I heard. That would be a fun event!

VCMC is the only club I go with now. Usually a few events in spring time get the rust off before I go do lapping in the summer. But I don't go to as many autocross events as I can now. That's ever since I started lapping I guess. I just wanna pay, drive, and go home.

Noise restriction is another thing here. Local people care about the noise that we create while we autocross right by a small airport's runway. I don't get the point there. U chose to buy cheaper house right by an airport and u can't stand noise that's quieter than a small plane taking off. Ahem sorry but I call that BS.

Hey - yeah visiting my brother for a week in Victoria. I don't think my schedule's going to allow for getting in the Victoria Porsche club on Sunday though. Likely won't get over to the Island until 3:30pm and the event starts at 1pm.

Read about an PNWR PCA event in Bremerton the w/e of May 30, but I've only got one week off. It's hard to get summer and late spring off in this industry.

It would be cool to combine an event with a trip home - maybe next year with the Kumho Super Challenge or something. I'd orginally planned to swing by A&J too, but now my budget's a little stretched.

I graduated from Timberline the first year it opened, and I consider CR my home town although it's changed a little since I moved away. It's such a small world!

It's surprising how much more expensive and restrictive getting into some events seems to be in BC; maybe it has something to do with CACC or venues? (shrug) The autocross at Saratoga sounds like it's only been going for a few years, and their timing system ups the price significantly for example. In Edmonton the events are $15 for WCMA members...we got 12 runs in the Test and Tune 10am - 4pm with 54 cars. (Yeah NIMBYs everywhere - there appeared to be old ladies (who sure weren't smiling) sitting in their vans watching the event appearing to be looking for something to complain about and the police drove by twice each day in Edmonton). I've read some of the history on trying to replace lost venues here in Calgary - it's hard to get venues and takes some effort to keep venues.

Even SASC seemed more relaxed than the ASA; I'd probably get frustrated at the Vernon events too. I've heard good things about the VCMC.

Crazy, I graduated from Carihi back in 99'... that would have been fairly close to when Timberline opened up, maybe 97' ?

I used to go back a lot, but less and less... now maybe once every 2 or 3 years I go back to visit my old man. 99% of the freinds I had who still live there are addicted to drugs of some kind.
