Thumbs down stupid or not

Hi, i am new at this forum and from yesterday a new fit sport owner (the car is still not delivered).
I went to the honda dealership and bought a honda fit sport automatic for 22175 msrp, the salesman gave me free mats with the car but now everyone arround tells me i should negotiate with them for better priceing and so on. looks like i am stupid becouse i did not ask for anything?
So what do you guys think about that? Was that a stupid thing?
I mean did anyone really got a good deal by negotiations with the delers on the new fit?

I tried talking down the price...but the only thing I could get knocked down was the prices of the accessories. Saved 15% off each item. They didnt even think about dropping the car price any....I hear not many dealerships in Canada would.

Paying MSRP for the fit is not bad, just try and get some free stuff like floor mats, cargo tray and maybe a few free oil change.

I paid MSRP and don't even care... the car is great

wow you guys pay a lot. You should get one in US and make it driveable in CA. MSRP for our sports are around 15-16k mt/at And I know the exchange is about the same now for US vs CA money.

I was really thinking about buying my Sport in the US and many other Canadians were considering it too. Then Honda and other companies heard about this too...and said to American dealers not to sell to Canadians.

After duties and such, I still wouldve saved about 2-3000 dollars.

Your friend just needs to learn how to negotiate. I bought my 08 VBP Base Manual Fit for $700 off MSRP, no options, 2 free oil changes, with 10 KM on the odometer, also at Richmond Honda.

I got 500$ off the MSRP plus 400$ in accessories. I also drove out of town for it, the city dealers I talked with at the time refused to even negotiated.
