Hey I was just wondering how the ICBC claims work.

My dad unfortunately got into a car accident today. It's very like to be his fault as he rear-ended someone, although it was a downhill and it was raining. It's very likely the car will be totalled.

1) For his car's worth, will ICBC give him a cheque? or he has to made another purchase first and then get re-imbursed?
2) How much will the insurance increases, even though he might be a gold-star member? (he hasn't claimed any insurance with his fault in the past 10 years)
3) If the car is totalled, can I savage the parts before letting them tow it away?

Sorry to hear that, I hope your dad is not physically hurt.

I have a friend who got into a similar situation, I will ask how ICBC dealt with his case.
