That is almost exactly how my second DSM was totalled, luckily I was going to school for body work so I pulled my own frame and got great deals on parts through the school's parts shop. Eventually I fixed the whole front end and sold the car for more than I bought it, by the way when I bought it the car had a full kit and brand new paint, I sold it with mismatched paint and stock front end so the kid wasn't very smart but hey he was happy. Anyways like Fitster said, don't write it off as a total loss. What was all damaged in the accident?

OMG, hope you are ok, not hurt?
how can ICBC say its your fault???
if you've already past the white lines and it turns yellow, you have to make the turn, of course people from the opposite direction will always try to speed up and pass a yellow light...
you are trying to avoid the accident and I think the other car should be responsible for the accident.
hope you get it fix up soon bro!!
sorry to hear that

I wonder how many Ge's have been in accidents? It might be hard to find a cheaper front clip for anything newer. Is it at a shop right now or at your house?

sorry about the accident, but think about it from the other driver's point-of-view and you'll see why it was your fault. he was going through a yellow light and you put yourself right in front of him, causing a collision. you should have just waited for the light to turn red and all the cars to pass, then go. or make sure he is stopped before going. nonetheless, it was an accident, and i'm sorry, hope you recover quickly.

yes, you are right, wait longer before making the turn

some areas you can fight or relate to ICBC are:

some major intersections got these amber color warning lights prior to the intersection that alert the drivers so they can prepare to brake
instead of speeding up straight through yellow or red lights

If I am the other driver with the right of way, I should be able to stop my car to avoid crashing into Jordy.

the only time I cannot stop is when the road condition is icy, wet or slippery, car mechanical problems or I was speeding at that time....

Ask ICBC the other driver's driving record, is he a road star? if he turns out to be a bad driver with many accidents within the last few years, then you might have a bigger chance to win the case.

Good luck Jordy!

bottom line is, you can't make the turn until it's safe for you to do so. So yes, it was a yellow, but if the other guy can't stop then you still need to wait.

and yes, legally, he's supposed to go since he's past the white lines, but that's still when it's safe to do so. ICBC is just going to say that it wasn't safe to do so.

If it was a red, and you can prove it, then that's another story.

Hope you get it all sorted out and have a quick recovery!

thats good that you have witnesses then. ICBC might side with you if the witnesses saw him run the red.

Good luck!
