Keep or sell the GD?

Keep or sell the GD?
I need some words of wisdom. I've been thinking about the idea of selling my Fit. I like the car, but am torn. I don't need more power, but I'm thinking of selling and getting something with more power. Leaning towards 2012 GTI. I've owned my Fit since new and my car and all debts will be paid off in the next few months. I could either get into more debt buying a new GTI or save a bunch of cash and drop a little bit into some more mods on my Fit and keeping it longer.
Really, this whole thing is just about having a new toy to play with. My Fit is in mint shape and perfect running condition with a few basic mods done already *lowered, rims, exhaust, visors, and a few interior pieces*

I don't know about any VW/European cars really! Be warned that it can be major headaches down the road...even when the car is still within warranty period. European cars are known to be problematic. So I will only lease one, get the best warranty coverage that I can find. Have fun with it for a few years then bring it back to the dealership.

... it's sad, but true. VW's I've heard have higher maintenance cost's and do have random problems sometimes even in the warranty period. I was also almost considering trading it in for a used S2000, but that would be the MOST impractical thing I could do.... but fun!
Really when I do think about it. Buying a new car would not be the smartest thing to do. I could go with something like a subaru, but then again I would want and STI or at least a WRX and that I can't afford. It also would be a lot more for insurance and fuel.

If I decide to keep the fit it's gonna be swapped from just springs to coilovers, LED smoked/red tails, J's grill right away. Intake, header, test pipe after that and possibly turbo'd later or swapped to a K. I'd also really wanna find a JDM rear bumper conversion too. The ass on these north american fit's is just too much.

sorry I don't know much about VW
These are my thoughts:
I would stay away from German cars, I am so disappointed to own one.
I own a 2006 BMW 323i and a Mercedes c230 coupe before (bought from brand new).
the repair cost is too much, even the motor oil change, the gas prices, can't even drive on the snow etc...
the good side is powerful engine and people say oh he drives a Bimmer or Benz...so what, it still takes me from point A to point B and that is what I need.
also, German cars resell value sucks!!
like spoonek4 said, lease a German car is the best option
good luck.

I too love compact cars with more hp: GTI, Civic, Mini Cooper, even the Veloster. I bought the Fit to truly modify a car that no one has. If you get a new GTI you will have to pay those high monthly payments plus you will have the modifying bug all over again. My friend tried to convince me to buy a new GTI last year until he ran into transmission problems. Nothing new. Every car has their pros and cons. I'm a die hard Honda enthusiast. The Fit's a fun car to drive and I love huge the cargo room. Plus a consistent 34-39mpg makes me happy.

I completely understand the desire for more power. The Fit is seriously lacking in that department. I would suggest either fixing the Fit's power deficit or buying a Honda or Ford that meets your needs. I have owned VW's, Nissan's, GM's, Chrysler's etc. and only Honda's and Ford's have been reliable.
