Safety Check

Has anyone pass w/ their car dropped w/o getting rekon? If so lmk where cos I went to like 3 places the other day & got turn down. I'm new to this rekon thing cos on Maui there's no such thing. So if anyone can help me out. That'll be great! Thanks!

Try waipahu. Next to McDonald's theres a gas station on the corner street. They do safety checks and they are pretty cool. My car aint slammed or anything, but all they want you to do is turn on your: headlight, R/L binkers, reverse lights, and hazards. Then all you do is pay, and they place the sticker on your car in less than 5 min. Just my 2 cents, hope this helps.

Agree. I have NF210s for a VERY mild drop. So mild that most wouldn't even notice that the car is lowered. Still, I went in and got my sticker just so I wouldn't have to go through the hassle. All it takes is one guy to notice the red springs and I'm spending more time looking for another station than I spent at recon.

Yeah I would. But my safety expires at the end of this month and the rekon place has no openings till next month.

For the past 2 years, I've gone to Saiki Motors in Waipahu. They're located on Waipahu street...below the old sugar mill. I'm lowered on skunk2 c/os. My front is pretty low...rear, kinda-sorta low, but not the lowest it could go. Good luck!

No, I never went there prior to 2 years ago. I asked another Fit owner, whose also lowered, where he went and he said to give them a try. I just went there, parked (parking is kinda tight if they got a lot of folks getting SCs or other stuff done) and tell whoever is at the counter (the owner is an older man) you need a safety check. I didn't even mention I was lowered.

Aw man! Sorry to hear that. So they flat-out said they couldn't to do it?

If they did, your drop must be way lower than mine. Maybe the recon is what u have to do. Sorry.

They started checking it then once they seen my front end and ask if was lowered. I said yeh a lil. Then he asked if I got reconstruction. And it was over, asked the old man and he said I need recon.

Bummers. Sorry.

For me, I tried to not to get the recon because the skunk2 c/os are super stiff and there's almost no bounce. If you're on springs, the recon may be the way to go.

Again, sorry about the bad recommendation.

If you make an appnt. now then you can call everyday to check if they have an opening...they usually do..but you may have to go right away.. Remember, your pretty low already which means you have to be a pretty stiff...
First thing they do is push down on your ryde then pull up on your ride..it has to go at least 1" up and at least 1'' down or you won't pass the bounce test..
I hope the best for you ma'man....Humbug ah? And it helps to have the print out from your alignment in hand.

shOOk,

Maybe you can try this place. Explain your situation and tell him Brad with the MINI referred you.

Talk to Cissie and she will ask the mechanic Leonard if he will do the safety check for you ASAP. B&B Auto
B & B Auto Service Center in Waipio - Waipahu, HI - Car Repair in Waipahu, Hawaii
They are near Costco in Waipio a few blocks away in the tech park area near the credit union building and Lock up storage. Phone 676-2334. They are open Monday to Fridays.

Even if you have expired on safety and you get a ticket you can say you are on the way there to get it done and then show proof you did get it.
