I hope the best for you ma'man....Humbug ah? And it helps to have the print out from your alignment in hand.
The bounce test is bogus.

Go to MINI of Hawaii. Go to any stock MINI. Do the bounce test. Every MINI will fail. No 1" up or down. If the stock suspension does not allow that travel then why should that be valid criteria for testing?

Another problem with lowered suspension is-
Once you lower it- don't you need an alignment sheet that shows recently you have alignment that is within stock specs for your car? Lowering often changes alignment so I would think that would be needed.

-schedule your recon appointment
-go get alignment
-remove all stickers off your windows
-remove any extra things around shifter/rear view mirror
(just make sure your remove anything from inside the car that you think might be questionable or obstructing your view)
-IF YOU FAIL THE FIRST ONE THEY WILL LET YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHATS WRONG, FIX IT AND CALL DAILY FOR OPENINGS. MAKE SURE THIS IS ALL DONE BEFORE YOUR ALIGNMENT IS STILL VALID.
-GOOD LUCK

Sorry to hear that. At least worth a try.

Seems like they are cracking down on safety checks and being stricter.

They won't even let me put the safety stickers on a metal plate if it is near the license plates- must be on the rear lower bumper or on a plate attached to the bottom of the rear bumper only- everything else no good.

Do you have stock suspension parts?

You can put the stock parts back then run safety check.

Idk if 15% is legal or not? But that was the only way he would pass me. And another thing the location is just straight up dumb if you ask me. I'm from Maui so I had to gps the address and I couldn't find it at all. I went around it like three times.

For Hawaii, tint must allow more than 35% light in (VLT%).

while i was parking a cop decided to stop me one day. i had recon and gave him all my papers. he didnt measure or check shit on my car. took my recon papers and scrape the sticker off my bumper. then gave me a ticket for recon.

recon is a permit that grants you the right to pay the state $15.

the system is set up so that the judge will automatically side with the cop. i went to court, it doesnt matter whos right or whos wrong. the only option is to pay your fine or go back to get recon or both, and suck wind. or sell your car, which is why i dont have my fit anymore.

also they put a stopper on your registration. so that you can look like a crook when the guy who tries to buy your car cant transfer the title. then you have to set up an appointment up to a month later to go to recon to have a guy spend 2 minutes looking at our vin number, tell you that the earth is round your car really is back to stock and then clear your registration.

conclusion: find another hobby, leave your car stock.

I think that is the message they want you go get.

Plain bureaucracy.

What's worst is all the modded trucks that are not safe and NO recon sticker.

wow what an ass. nothing better to do.

till this day, I still get paranoid when a cop is behind me or when I'm next to one at a stop light... I guess im lucky for not getting pulled over yet. I try to keep my car stock looking from the exterior.

Now, im pretty over modding my car.
