Order a Fit?

So can anyone explain the details and particulars of how the ordering process works.

I was told be my dealership that you cant really order a car and have it built specificly for you by the factory. They basicly have to sift through the incoming cars and their allocation of incoming cars and try to find what you want within their area or other local states.

For instance, I want a base model White Fit with Manual trans. Do I just have to wait until they can find me one or can I actually make it happen through some other means? They are really trying to push me towards a Silver one that will be in in the next week or so and I don't know if I should take it or try and hold out for a White one.

AFAIK, this is true, and similar to what my dealership told me. If you have an exact model/color/trans that you want, you need to be prepared to wait for it, especially for base ones - it seems that most of the Fits coming in are Sports - if you're picky like me, and have a working car now, it's worth the wait.

One other thing: I'm not sure about the Base, but the white Sport comes with a choice of either a beige or black interior. There was a thread a while ago about a guy who ordered w/black but got beige instead and didn't take the car because of it (I would have done the same). If you have the choice and it's important to you, be sure to specify this clearly when you order. When I was looking, the dealers seemed much more tuned into exterior colors of incoming cars than interior ones.

Order a Fit?

Hey PJones- I started my Fit purchase in mid March and waited until mid-May for what was to be a VBP-Fit Sport A/T - it did not show up. They did get a Lunar Mist base M/T and a MR Sport A/T - both sold before they were off the hauler. Lucky for me the people getting the MR Sport could not get their loan. The car was parked on the lot next to the office and I just stopped to look it over. My salesman had been trying to call me to see if I could live with a MR instead of the VBP. I did not want to wait another three months so I took it instead. Was so glad that I did - loving the color and loving the Fit - so much fun! I got gas this morning and the driver of the huge SUV paid out almost 45.00 to fill his ride - my gas payment was $22.10!! Cha-ching!!!!!! I also contacted another Honda dealership in my area and worked with them both in trying to locate the car I wanted. Don't hesitate to do that and let them know who can come up with what you want first gets the deal. Nothing like a little healthy competition! Hope you get your Fit soon -

When I first saw the Sport Fit on the Honda Website, I called my Salesman at a Honda Dealership in Dothan, AL (and is a friend of mine) to get me one. He said he would try, and found a white one in Birmingham, AL and a Red one in Georgia, but they wouldn't be here in Dothan, AL for another week. They both arrived at the same time (on a Friday), and he brought the white one to me to test drive. I Loved It!....But told him I wanted the BOM (Blazing Orange Metallic), and he told me that it could take some time, but I didn't care. Well, that Saturday, I had a knock on my door....It was him, with my BOM! He tracked one down close by and got it from another dealership (what service)! And the interior was exactly what I wanted, black. I took my '98 Escort ZX2 to the dealership for a trade-in, and by that Saturday afternoon, I drove off with my Fit! I'm glad he didn't try to talk me into the White or Red......I Love my BOM!!!!!!

Well my dealer called today and said the Silver Fit came in with the manual transmission. After reading many threads about how hard it was to find 5 spd manuals I thought that unless I wanted to wait what would probly be months for my desired base with White/black and manual combo I went ahead and took the Silver. I hope I wont regret not waiting for the white one but it didnt look like it was going to happen anytime soon. So after some wheeling and dealin and really pushing hard to get the car down in price to MSRP I drove away with it. I know the margin on the Fit is small but man those guys didnt want to budge much. It started out at 1000 over sticker and i got them down to 250 over, not a huge savings but it all helps. Now its time to shop for some mods :P

Order a Fit?

PJones:

Congrads on your Fit. I know how you feel. I started out wanting the BOM and the salesman told me those were the hardest to find. I then was told about the VBP and decided that I really liked the color and it would be fine. Even after hearing that the VBP had some paint issues, I was all set for it anyway. Then it did not come in but seeing the MR in person, it looked so pretty and I just did not want to wait any longer. You did better than I did on the out the door price - I paid 436.00 over MSRP but they did give me money back to cover my vanity plate " FIT 2 Go ", I stopped at the dealership yesterday and purchased the Chrome Exhauste Finisher, Cargo Cover, All weather mats and the wheel locks. That should be in by Tuesday and I'll go down and have them installed. They are not charging me a dime for installation and gave me 15% off on each item I purchased. If your Silver is like my MR you will just grow to love it. I was bummed not getting the one I wanted but then I believe all things happen for a reason. The MR just is so much fun - my neighbor asked if I could have gotten a car that was more redder!LOL. So I hope you will find that the Silver just Fits right into your own personality.

Anyway you got your Fit!!!! I test drove the Silver in March when I was just starting to consider the car and I kicked myself for not buying it then and there. It is a beautiful car with lots of mod potential. Silver always looks clean and doesn't show the dirt like the rest of Fit palette. Congrads!!!
