This is the most economical Ford Focus ever – and the most efficient non-hybrid family car in the whole of Europe.

The new Econetic model will make its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week featuring a host of tweaks to help its 1.6-litre diesel engine return 83.1mpg and emit just 89g/km for road tax-free motoring.

Those incredible figures eclipse the Focus' closest rival, the Volkswagen Golf Bluemotion, which does 74mpg and emits 99g/km.

On sale in the middle of next year, the new Focus Econetic gets a 104bhp 1.6-litre turbodiesel which boasts stop-start and a clever energy efficient alternator. Inside, there's a dash-mounted Eco Mode, which helps the owner to drive more efficiently, along with a gearshift indicator.

 

No doubt about it. Ford engineers were adopting the latest technology, which create a wide innovation to the bunch of vehicles they owned. As such, this Focus Econetic does not just lessen fuel consumption but also pollution in the environment.
