Headlight Armor Lighting Protection and Smoked Taillight Kits Available

Plastic / polycarbonate headlights found on most new cars these days can cloud due to a wide variety of factors. UV is one for sure, but most mfg's use a UV/scratch coating to help out some. Other (bigger) factors are micro pitting from sand and road debris. Just as your windshield will develop millions of tiny pits over time, so will unprotected headlights. Once your lights start developing micro pitting and the erosion of the UV coating the polycarbonate will start to deteriorate. If you have a headlight protection kit installed, you can prevent the pitting in the first place. If you have some pits the adhesive used in our headlight protection kits will tend to fill them in and clear up the light. Once installed using a vinyl conditioner with a UV protection component - like 303 Protectant - will help protect the lens from damaging UV.

Turning your headlights on prior to the application would help to warm the lens if it were cold out. The lights themselves should not be cold. For the application I find it easier for the lights to be off as it is easier to see what you are doing. You can add heat when and where needed with a hairdryer. Hope that helps.
If you mean before you apply, you would want to clean and remove anything on the surface of the light. Whether it is wax residue, polish left over or whatnot, you want the surface as clear of contaminates as possible before you apply the material.
Chilly AM, doing an install on a chilly day? Spend a few minutes and warm the lights. Either with a short drive with the lights on or a few minutes evenly warming them with a hairdryer first. Warm water in your spray bottle and some even heating of the material with your hairdryer = smooth install
