Hey Guys....Summer is here!!! Is time to have a BBQ meet.

Queens (Cunningham Park)

Time:

Direction:

Cunningham Park Located between Union Turnpike and Francis Lewis Boulevard

From Queens (Local):

Take Francis Lewis Blvd. toward to JKF Airport side, when you hit Union Turnpike there has a traffic light. Keep on the right lane and pass Union Turnpike you will see the park sign and the entry is at your right hand side. It is only one way in and out, so just keep following the road till you see all the Fits.

From Queens & Brooklyn (Take LIE):

Take LIE exit 25 Utopia Pkwy and keep going on the serivce road (Horace Harding Expy) till you hit Francis Lewis Blvd., then make a RIGHT on Francis Lewis Blvd. and keep going till hit Union Turnpike there has a traffic light. Keep on the right lane and pass Union Turnpike you will see the park sign and the entry is at your right hand side. It is only one way in and out, so just keep following the road till you see all the Fits.

I've checked out some parks on Long Island. But unfortunately they don't tell you if you can barbecue at any of them. I'm sure you can but they only mention picnic tables.
I did find out that Cunningham Park does have a barbecue area. We just have to find it.

It was nice meeting you today. Is Cunningham Park the one that you were saying that it is near Francis Lewis? We should definitely find a park that we are going to by this Friday so we can plan the other stuff out too.

Let see does Zangoose GD3 check out the park or not. I have busy schedule this week. not able to make it to check out the park.:mad:

Me & hkjazz went to Cunningham Park & Forest Park tody. About Forest Park forget it, it is very difficult to find the BBQ spot.

so we either drive little bit to Long Island or just Queens!!!

How about Queensbridge Park? The park by the Queensborough Bridge aka 59th Street Bridge. BBQ is available there and it over looks into the Manhattan East Side.

Queensborough Park sounds great too.

I did a little research into some parks in Long Island that you can BBQ at.

Valley Stream
Hempstead
Bethpage
Belmont

These are the parks that I found somewhat central.
I vote for Bethpage State Park since it's in the middle of the Island. Plus it might entice the Fits' of LI to come meet up with us.

They do have grills or we can bring our own grill.

hey fittin, the queensbridge park is very small n is no parking area . you have to find a parking in the street. :(

This is a F.I.T. 1st BBq meet. I don't see the correlation to the last year's, NEFC meet? (F.I.T. is a NYC Fit club, not a joint venture of NY/NJ/PA/CT or any other neighboring states.)

The idea of each person bringing something to this meet are from current members' own good will. You & any other Fit owners in the area are welcomed to come to any of our Fit meets. If you choose to bring something for the bbq meets, that's great. If you choose not to bring anything, that's ok too. We're not a charity club nor a business. We'll grow as a committed group of FIT people willing to contribute to the club and it's functions. There's no need for your rants about how we have to step things up to run this club. Your last sentence is inappropriate and unappreciated.

Lead by example applies here. If you are not bringing anything to the bbq, don't expect or ask people to bring something. It would've been better for you if you didnt mention anything at all. And for your information, I was at that gathering.

We'll need plenty of #3 for the grill. And speaking of a grill, we might need to bring an extra - in the event that we won't be able to get one at the park. I can bring the extra grill.

Im really upset with this whole situation. for the last 2 weeks i was considering selling the car.

Now im back on stock wheels, and the car does not feel the same :(

Ya, The car is fine, $3500 in damage, they stole all my wheels & car needed some paint work. Sucks...But what can you do.

Now im lookin into some spacers for my stock wheels, cause on a lowered fit..i just dont think it looks right.

I should be able to make the BBQ. If anything I might be there at 11A or at 4P depending on work.
If I'm able to get there at 11A I could bring some chicken wings. If not I could bring some fish balls with skewers.
