Oh surprise surprise! Uber's software was flawed. In reality it was the settings and the choice of turning off the Volvo software that was really the problem. Turning off the car's software was like driving down the road at night, in a big 4x4, with the lights off. Definitely not safer doing so, and is basically stupid to do so. Yet doesn't look like Uber is going to face charges. Man it must be nice going through life loaded with cash!

Yeah turning off the safety systems on the world’s safest car so you can test your home grown one? Greaaat idea.

Also seems that Uber implemented a one second “pause before action” delay because their ceo was going to take a test ride and they didn’t like that the car was unpredictably braking when it got spooked.

The engineers developing this should be held responsible. Ethics are not a concern for the majority of engineers, especially in these bs tech companies.

Another article on this provided by Washington Post;

What self-driving cars can’t recognize may be a matter of life and death

Engineers are racing to program artificial intelligence to recognize different scenarios that human drivers know inherently

SAN FRANCISCO — To understand the complexity of programming self-driving cars, experts on autonomous vehicles say, consider a deer, a moose or a cow — all rust-colored, four-legged mammals you might find roaming along the side of the road.
