Well it happened...

I was afraid of getting into another accident in my new car, but it happened. Was stopping at a light which turned yellow and then red. A few seconds after being stopped the lady behind me didn't slow down, veered to the left trying to avoid me, and hit me. I am ok for now til I start feeling it later. My rear bumper, left taillight, trunk door, and left rear portion of the panel is messed up. The panel was slashing into my tires as I was pulling my car to the side. The good thing is that I wasn't severely injured. The bad thing was she wasn't insured. The car was her roommates. CHP had that car towed away.

The other thing about this is that this was my 2nd rear end in the past 2 months. I got rear ended in my 95 honda prelude at the SAME stoplight. I was heading to work both times. Maybe I wasn't meant to go to work those days. First accident was about 1/2 mile from the stoplight. Second accident was at the stoplight.

My poor fit is badly damaged. Will send pics in a bit as im sending them from my phone to my email. I had just bought some LED taillights for my car and had other plans for it. I was going to wash it tomorrow too. Now i can't and have to use a damn rental. The car was purchased on 04/01/07 and it hasn't been 1 month yet. Neither did I have the damn license plates yet. Both accident involved woman being careless about how they drive. First one was on the phone. Second one I have no clue what she was doing. Now im Fitless til I can get my insurance to get me a spanking new car. Sigh...

Madera is where I live but I got hit in Reedley where I work. It's in the Fresno County in California. I don't like the drivers here cause they are really careless.

That hurts, I'm glad you are OK though, the car can be repaired or replaced.

liability insurance follows the car not the driver, so if the roommate is insured you may wanna check into that

I got my rental yesterday. A crappy Red Ford Focus. Im already unhappy with the car. It's uncomfortable. The headrest leans forward at a 30 degree or more angle and really doesn't support my neck. The car is estimated 28mpg which is nothing compared to what i was getting with my Fit. The rental company is suppose to have something comparable to what we had and there's nothing they have that's comparable to the Fit. I really hope my insurance company does something quick cause im really going to be annoyed having to drive this POS for more than a week. My Fit is currently in the shop for them to determine the amount of damage on my car. The body shop is right next to my work so I can check up on it if its getting repaired. However i would like to get a new car since my car was still spanking brand new when i got rear ended. But that really depends on what the insurance company wants to do. Im definitely going to look into the other car's insurance if any. Really pisses me off that the other person was driving without insurance when it's against the law here to drive without insurance. I hope the state goes after this lady and penalizes her for driving without insurance. I just recently got released from my chiropractor from my last accident and now I might need to go back cause I can start feeling something in my back.

I had to drive the crappy Focus for a month... it totally and completely SUCKED!

By the look of your car, if they DO decide to fix it, will probably take at least 2-3 weeks. If they don't, well... do you know of any dealers in your area that actually have a fit in stock?

Really sorry about your misfortune!! Last Friday, coming home from work, I hit a piece of construction debris (cast iron pipe?!?) trashed right front tire & wheel!! Only 879 miles on my VBP Sport 5MT delivered 12 March 2007! Trust me, you DON'T want to drive on the doughnut spare for long!! Hope you don't have to endure the rent-a-car too long & that SOMEBODYS' insurance comes through quickly!....just remember- this, too, shall pass!

When my bumper was being repaired, I was stuck in a Dodge Caliber rental. I really did not care for that car. It seems on the smallish side from the outside, but once you get in it drives like a big soft car and feels smaller than my Fit.

Hope you get taken care of - J
