In Texas, you can't get a "real" job until you are 16, but he could hire himself out to mow lawns, baby-sit, or walk dogs - or whatever he could come up with. Where there's a will, there's a way, and just the fact that he is willing to work to earn his wheels would impress the heck out of THIS mom, and I'd let him buy his car. I'd contribute to the fund.

I will make a list for you, because I want to illustrate that it isn't my fault:
1. I don't have my driver's license. Im only 15.
And the earliest I can take my test is in May.
2. Finding a Fit within a tight budget isn't an easy thing to do, considering a Fit isn't cheap.
3. My mom doesn't like small cars and my dad doesn't like the Fit.
4. My sister is before me in the hiearchy of car driving (she will get a car before I will) and this will affect reasong #2.
I have more reasons but these are the main ones.

If I was his MOM I'd help buy his car!! I can imagine my own kid if I contributed to some other kid's car fund!! He'd run away...hmmmmm....on second thought where do I send the check??? JK...sort of...

). Then, still, I would have to pay insurance and other junk (like mods
).I would give you rep for being 15 and being on this board, and sounding like you have a head on your shoulders, but I have to "spread it around" first. I'll get back to you, though. My 15-year-old has an older brother who got my car (96 Camry) when I got my Fit. He's not even in driver training yet, and won't be until I see that he's maturing up a little bit. Keep working hard in school, being responsible, and saving money. You've got time to get the car(s) of your dreams.

. As for driving, I got my restricted like a month after my B-Day (I would have gotten it sooner if it wasn't for AP World History). What attracted me to the Fit is probably what you like the Fit for aswell. It's economical, its a Honda, it looks good (in my eyes), mods and stuffs, and because you can stuff all of Japan in the back (I'm frugal and a thinker; a normal trunk in a normal car won't be big enough for what I need), etc.

How am I going to get to my job? Lol. I want to get my school done first (school is priority #1) and once I get a job and pay for my own insurance (car, I mean), I could do it.
LOLLLOLOLOL! My parents WILL NOT HELP ME BUY MY FIT! Maybe a junker for my B-Day, but if i want a Fit, I best make a ton of money, or use my college money (working for a 100% tuition scholarship
). Then, still, I would have to pay insurance and other junk (like mods

I repped you. Last time I checked, I have a bush on my shoulders.

I wish you the best on your full-ride scholarships - you have the right focus and that's 99% of the battle won. Do you test well? If you get really good SATs and ACTs it helps a lot. If you get a full-ride would your parents help you with a car at that point? I mean, if they are off the hook for tution...If my son approached me with a plan to help pay for the car he wanted, I'd be willing to at least consider it, and if he were making straight A's in school, I'd more than likely pick up some of the cost, plus insurance. It's all about doing what you're supposed to be doing and getting rewarded for it.
But when you can buy your own car, it will feel really special to you. No one ever bought me a car either - my daddy could never afford to. He did co-sign for the loan until I was old enough to sign by myself, but I paid every single payment, bought my own gas, etc. I think he did carry me on his insurance policy until I was 19, but I had a clean driving record up to that point (and THEN I got in a rear-ender or 2!).
and, if my son applied for and got a job, I'd drive him there and pick him up if it was too far to walk or bike. If you have the initiative to get employment, I think you should have a clear path and I'd do everything I could to keep that ball rolling.
That's just me, though. I know my own dad was "hands-off" everything in my life. I learned to do it all by myself.
Hang in there and study hard for your tests next week!
Charlie, you have my respect for this, as well as for taking college level classes in High School.
It will all work out for you.
P.S. My rep is all used up again!
