Rep Points..does anybody really care about them?

im not trying to bitch or something, but i dunno if members actually take time to leave others a reputation point, dont matter how effective, helpful or cool they are or the mods you got on your Fit. On a side note, I have left maybe one or two i dont know, and still see the same "rep points" score on the member's info. Weird Any comments related to that feature, welcomed.

i rep people if i feel they go above and beyond. i've probably rep'ed 4 or 5 to date. i know it takes a few points to add to the visible total. not sure exactly how many though. it says i have 10 rep points, but it only shows i have 2. i don't know when or by whom i got those points.

I don't know how the rep points works either or what it equates to. I have left rep points for other people, but I am not sure how I got the rep points that I have. When I first noticed the rep thing on my posts I had 12 points without any type of notification of who left them or what they were for. Then I got something in my User CP from TOOL dealing with rep points for a post that I made about mirror settings, but the little jewel looking thing is gray and I still have 12 points. *shrug* I have no freakin' clue.

i dont get it either. 12 points equals 12 people gave me rep?
maybe some moderator could come and clarify it, although its not something that really worries me, it's just for the knowledge and understanding of these forums which can also benefit newbies.

BTW sliverworm..I envy ur title Master Fitfreaker hahah

Some people use it some abuse it, some admins like it some dont. I think its cool, ive rep'd a few people but not to many. Ill Rep a helpful post with good info here and there. I wont rep someone because they have cool mods lol.

I give it to people who were very helpfull, I suppose I should give even more, since there is alot of good stuff here! Uh...ooops!

I think someone gave me it once... I saw it on my CP...I didnt know what to do so I pm'ed them with a thankyou. Haahaa I kinda felt honored! (Geee I hope it was not by accident....heeehee)

all I know is around the time when my posts just passed "100" and I got that rep thingy at the bottom of my CP my little tiny colored tic tak turned green! (I am still an unknown quantity....haaahaa...its a bit depressing though "AS I PROCLAIM MY EXISTENCE IN MY LITTLE CHAIR!!!"

I have 20 points. Ive passed it out here and there. What I dont get is that I can only read my latest Rep. Why cant I see all the points Ive gotten? At least the top 10 or so.

I know on Mx6.com I can review the top 10 Rep points. I have a butt load on that site, but Ive been there for around 6 years and have over 9,000 posts.

People on ClubRSX just give it out at random. Last I read they turned the system off. Hahah

I just passed some to everyone in this thread above besides Tyler. Said I needed to spread Rep.
Sorry Ty.

I don't really give out positive rep because everyone should be helpful and nice (most of the time) by default but I will neg rep any trollish remarks because who wants to read that kind of crap? Someone's user name have red bar? I don't bother reading.

Unfortunately on the internet, a troll remark/thread will always get the most attention =[

Are there names with red bars on this site? I have never seen anything like that. I know that other websites use rep points for vouches as well. And some use rep points as a type of feedback for people who sell things through the forum.

Whoops. For this forum I meant if I see a red bar under their rep power not on the name.

If forums are using the rep system in a way like ebay, then it's definitely useful.

Red would be having bad rep before good rep was received. Basically like a negative rep.
