Anybody ever mess with HDR? I need some tips. This is my first attempt at the HDR "look" using Photoshop and Jpegs.

The OG and the After.

Doesn't look so great, lol. I don't shoot in RAW so I didn't have any photos to work with.

I should defend myself by saying that I followed some dude's tutorial online, lol.

I haven't used photomatix but I'll look into that program right now. Are you able to edit in JPG format?

Wow that program is fun! So many ways your pictures can turn out. Here's a quick one I did of my balcony.

It seems like you were able to upload one image and edit it from there. How? It won't let me select less than 3 photos, so I had to take a few with different exposure.

Photoshop's HDR merger is pretty much crap. It will do it a little bit but no where near as good as something like Photomatix.

i haven't really gotten into photography much, but I still think HDRs look cool, even if they are a fad.

according to wikipedia (haha) HDR has been around for like 100 years, so although it may be popular now, it sounds like it's here to stay.

yeah, it's nice when done right, but now it's so easy to do, everyone does it and over edits it,.. it's sort of like.. if you can't take a good shot by yourself, USE HDR!!!

hdr may be a fad but those that are good at it tend to be really good at it.

Check it out just some I found on google.

the word fixie is a fad, yes. fixed gear track bicycles are not a fad. they've been around longer than hdr pictures, so they are definitely here to stay haha

really.. once you get more into photography, unless you can be AMAZING at hdr's,.. they just get lame.

and EVERYONE thinks they're cool so EVERYONE does it.
in photography you're supposed to try to stand out, not blend in
