My HID v2.0 for my 05 CBR600RR

Just finished up rewiring my HID headlamps with a cutoff switch.

What a must have, should have done it years ago. Got tired of turning the bike on/off when ballast misfires after start. Now the High and Low beams operate fully independently of each other. I can run no lights, Low Only, High Only, or Both.

I turn the bike on, let it warm up, then flip on the HIDs. Fires perfectly every time.

rip off the whole front end quick-style instead of as per repair manuals, takes 1/5th the time.

Front end off testing switch

Bike running, headlights killed for engine warmup

Headlight toggle switch, hidden bracket for no drill install (switch turned off)

Switch turned on, HIDs are back on

The HIDs are better than ever, and the battery feels stronger for starts. It's definitely one of the must-have low dollar mods if you have HID. Getting the front fairing on straight with everything attached is the biggest bitch other than making the hidden bracket.

I got a two position toggle switch. Wired the red HID wire to the LOAD prong, the black HID wire went to EARTH, and I split that one so it works as ground for both the HID and the LED for the toggle through the h7 negative terminal from OEM bulb connector, and then made a jumper for POWER source to go to the Positive side of the OEM h7 bulb connector. I can upload a diagram if you would like one to make it super easy if anyone else wants to do this mod.

And for the bracket, I didn't wanna drill my plastics so I cut an L-bracket for like a fence in half, drilled the pilot hole bigger to fit the switch, and its a super thick bracket, nearly killed the drill bit and saw blade. Then I affixed it underneath the left ram air cover and adhered it with high bond 3M double sided tape, which is the same material holding the ballast.

+rep for a job well done. I'm too lazy to do that on my gixxer so as soon as I put the key in the ignition I start the bike I see you got a set of Pilot Powers, what else you got done to her?

Thanks for the good words. Its just a good mod to do. I have had to bump start the bike a few times after the HIDs zapped the battery, which running down the street pushing your bike in full gear and jumping on it and shifting to second makes you tired, sweaty, and you can loop the bike.

as for mods
-Carbon Fiber Cone Cap Yoshimura RS5 slip-on exhaust(best mod ever)
-Lockhart Phillips smoked LED flush mount front signals
-Competition Werkes Fender Eliminator kit with spring loaded flip up mount
-Flush mount rear indicators
-6000k HID w/cutoff switch (obviously)
-6000k LED third Light
-6000k LED plate light
-Those pilot powers you saw, wayyyyy better than the dunlop D208's by far

what year/color scheme gixxer do you have. I am an all honda guy but I used to work for Yamaha/Kawasaki. My only non-honda is my 74 datsun truck. BTW-lovin the SSR's on your ride

The 06 blk/red 600. It came with Battlax's which SUCKED! Once I put on the Pilot Powers it made all the difference in the world
