LOL! My bad. I figured the first post was kinda old that this just kind of morphed into a random photo thread. Hence I threw my 2 cents in. I gladly accept my nomination for FAIL Photo Category (FPC). I will try to stick to the rules (and read them more in depth) next time around.

Ed

PS. If mine are the ones not showing up let me know. They seem to be working on my end but I have had issues posting pics on this site from time to time.

If you guy want to post photos of work and are not related to the challenge you can post them here.
https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/off-...mera-gear.html

So I'm thinking for the next Challenge the assignment should be showing Depth of Field both max DOF and min DOF ( macro shot).....
Hehe hey man. I am more of a point and shoot...fiddle with camera settings..shoot again. See how they come out, pick the best, trash the rest. I'm a self taught photo guy.

That being said explain what you mean by max and min DOF. Pretend I know zero about camera's and the terminology. I'll see what I can come up with next time around.

Thanks for not taking it like I was trying to slam you or anything. I was just sitting laughing while I was writing it, thinking to myself, how can you manage to violate EVERY rule listed?!? I guess not reading the contest rules would be a great excuse! And yeah some of your photos are not showing up. Photobucket is great for that! I use Welcome to Flickr - Photo Sharing

As far as depth of field goes, it's the ability to focus on the closest object to the camera, the foreground, and then having the rest of the photo out of focus.

Mostly, depth of field is controlled by the f-stop.

In this picture, the foreground (people) are in focus, but the background is out of focus. This is a shallow depth of field.

In these photos, notice everything is in equally focus. This would be a really deep field of view.

And in this photo you have an extremely shallow depth of field.

Hmmm thanks for the tips...I figured Photobucket was pretty good for stuff like this, but will set up a Flickr account.

Here's a good tutorial on Depth of Field: Understanding Depth of Field in Photography

DOF is one of the most basic elements in photography and has a major influence on the way a photo is perceived and the impact that it carries. This would make a good contest subject for sure.

A good read for those just getting into photography is "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson. Not a difficult read, and explains very nicely the interaction between shutter speed, aperture, ISO, etc. and how it fits into composition of your images.

ROFL I've been lazy. Judging by my last post, I will probably post my entry a few months after it ends. Then post it in the wrong format.

Going for two time FPC (FAIL Photo Category) award!!
