Me, too!! Nobody told me I was eligible for scholarships until I'd already p!ssed all the opportunities away....sigh....

Oh well, it counted more when I was a grown up...went to college as an adult. How about you?

I met Harlan Ellison once (famous sci-fi writer). He was really funny and nice. I also met the Newsboys and got their autographs last year.

when i was ready (20 yrs old), i grew up all at the same time. got a job, went to college, financed my education, moved out of my parents' house, and paid for rent/bills all on my own. it was hard but worth the experience; my pride kept me from accepting a hand-out from my parents when things got difficult too LoL

how about you?

I worked right out of HS, and then when I was 25, started taking college courses at night, one at a time. It took me 10 years to finish a 4-year degree, but a lot of life happened in between, including marriage, the birth of our first child, and the start of our 2nd child.

I liked being an adult in college but I will say it was hard to relate to some of my classmates....One benefit was being wide awake for the 8 a.m. classes, which were always a LOT less crowded than the ones past 11 a.m.

I got some financial aid but not from my dad. I mostly worked my way through.

I still wonder what my life would have turned out like if I'd known I was up for a full-ride scholarship...but I don't know that I'd trade my life for that one, even so...I'd probably have been some dried-up, miserable academic working away on her 95th book that no one would have read...

Cool, I'm trying to get NCCER certification in school for welding.

As for birth control, get a vasectomy. (which reminds me of a story...will post soon)

Where do you want to retire if you haven't retired already?

A few blocks around Compton, CA. My stepdad missed the turn to West Coast Choppers.

What is the funniest prank you've pulled?

Recently I recorded my co-workers desk phone ring on my cell. Then I play it while he is in earshot, he runs over in a panic only to "miss" the call cursing and swearing and can't figure out why it does not show up on the call-display... all co-workers within the local cubical area snicker and laugh.

Best place to eat a hamburger?

^^ Fantastic Burger in Carson. i used to order three grilled cheese sandwiches with bacon, those sandwiches were used as the buns for the ultimate burger: 1st grilled cheese sandwich on bottom, lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheese, burger patty, grilled onions, 2nd grilled cheese sandwich, more lettuce, more tomato, burger patty, onion rings, more grilled onions, then topped with the last grilled cheese sandwich.
sometimes i'll order it with chilli

vv do you get along with your parents?
