My Parents House Burned Down Yesterday Morning

My foster parents, my foster brother and my nephew got out in time yesterday morning at around 1:15am and escaped a fire that gutted their house of 24 years.

Any idea of the cause? on Feb 18, 2006, teenage arsonists burned down the house I grew up in. Fortunately, nobody was in the house at the time, but if you grow up in one place, it's hard to lose it, even though I hadn't lived there since 1968. My condolences to you and your family.

We are also graciously accepting gift card to stores such as Wal-mart, Target, Sam's Club, Costco and Kroger and those can be mailed to The Johnson Family, 1151 Minor Cove, Memphis, TN, 38111

If you wish to send a personal message to the family, please email that message to jparkerhill@gmail.com

Also, if I failed to mention this or you haven't had a chance to watch the video on Channel 5's website, my foster parents have a biological son who suffers from cerebral palsy, is bed-ridden and COMPLETELY dependent on them for everything. My foster father dragged him out of the house on a sheet to escape the flames. They lost all of his specialized medical equipment including various lifts and wheelchairs. Allen was never expected to live beyond the first 6 months of his life, but because of the love of his parents, Nancy and Larry, he is happy and healthy and now 47 years old. Larry is 64 and Nancy is 67. This is an elderly couple who are even now raising my nephew as they raised me. Zack is 12 and they have had custody of him since he was 3 months old.

Thanks again for all of the support.

From happier times:

Larry and Nancy 2 years ago when we were all staying at a beach house on vacation

Larry and Nancy, myself and my brother and sister whom they raised after our mother passed away, and my nephew Zack, whom they are also raising.

I'm glad everyone is okay. I'm not sure if you're Christian but I will say it anyways. God bless your family.

How are your folks doing now, Sid? Did they have insurance? What do they still need?
