On the advertisement banner, I keep getting (9/10 times) an advert for Mercedes Benz and it is a big drop-down that blocks half the page, particularly on my 'subscribed threads' page. it is pissing me off. it needs to go the fuck away. i understand this forum needs advertisements but shit...

Missed opportunities
Heheh... Fact or otherwise is not really the issue at this point. Caution: Oops I feel a strong soap box attack coming on
. Windows/IE is deeply entrenched in households and users just by sheer numbers alone. And the average user is still not tech/cyber savvy.
Microsoft and its marketing think tank have been shrewd and cunning throughout the years since the introduction of PC's to the masses. So fact is, they have a stranglehold of the market at the moment.
However, the playing field is changing. Not fast enough though. Just like Coke and McDonalds. Health and nutrition was never a discussion point. Sheer numbers and accessibility made them the giants that they are now (and still are).
Alternative platforms have been in existence, but they were not available to the masses then when Windows was creeping in to every household.
Just a point of view (maybe oversimpilfied) from an older generation who've witnessed the evolution and the missed "windows" of opportunity by the competition. It's now up to the next generation -yours, to level the playing field.
