The Spratly Islands (at least what on the surface) is not worth fighting for,
but what MIGHT (I say Might cause it had not been proven with real production) lay under the surface aka Natural Resources (Oil/Gas and other minerals) is what this is all about.

Philippine main island is NOT under attack from China,
99% of Philippine population will NOT fell any impact if the war broke out at sea, cause China will NOT be stupid to attack mainland Philippine,...
after all China do not had any intention to occupy Philippine main island...
what for, nothing worth fighting there...

so please don't make this look like China is going to harm Philippine people !

No way...
now if China sent their airforce to bomb Philippine main island, that is a different story, even then, US Navy would not attack China main island...
it might sent the F-18 on the aircraft carrier to intercept China fighter jet...
but again, there is NO way China will bomb Philippine...
so NO DIRECT HARMS to Philippine people.
the only lost for Philippine is the potential revenue if the Spratly Islands turn out to be as rich in natural resources as the prediction...

on another though, even if China took over Spratly island by force,
there is NOTHING the Philippine Navy or US Navy can do about it.

The American people (ie. Walmart) still will buy/source their good made in China,
The Philippine people will still buy/source many of their imported goods from China,
and there will still be plenty of Chinese people living both in Philippine or in USA.
and the Philippine people will still have and maintain their personal friendship with their Chinese friend.

so my advice to you is,
there is nothing you can do about this.

are you sure that you do not have any chinese product that you currently still use (or forced to use)?
I mean do you have any electronic device such as cell phone?

Japan will NOT be willing to go all out just to stop the Chinese Navy (in reality).

in theory,
yes, the Japanese Navy is MORE than capable of fighting the PRESENT Chinese Navy
especially with the backing of the US Navy,
but the economical consequences will be too large/damaging for Japan...
compare to the potential gain under the Senkaku island...

Japan sell plenty of it's export to China, and need many of it's manufacturing source/parts from China,
Japan can NOT afford to go to war with China without putting their economy in danger.
If the Japan lost the Senkaku to China, all they lost is pride,
which they don't have much anyway since they were defeated by US and Allies in World War 2.
losing the Senkaku to China will not make Japan go bankrupt or anything...
and I am pretty sure, China will not go much beyond Senkaku,
China will not act like Japan that invade China during world war 2,
China do not want to invade Japan (nor Philippines)...
but China need natural resources and in the Senkaku case, Japan need it as it's outer ring of defense
against US Navy just in case, China decide to get Taiwan back !

Now, Taiwan better not try to declare independence... cause it will push China into war,...
and nobody (even Japan/Taiwan/US and China itself) want's that...

again, I had repeat this many times above, and I will repeat again,
China will not push Japan or US Navy (and Philippines/Vietnam etc) too hard, China know when to stop and not crossing the line...
Japan, US Navy, Philippines/Vietnam all also know their position...
nobody in this world can do without China now...
let's face it...
even most of the US Treasury bill under foreign ownership is under Chinese hand...
the world are interconnected, with China and US as it's main anchor,
with Japan and Europe as the secondary anchor...
you take out on main anchor/foundation, everything will fall apart...

we don't want the world to fall apart just because a Spratly or Senkaku island... don't we ?
