Well if you just said "it will not work on a GE8" and left it at that it might have discouraged someone from finding out that " if you made further modifications due the the welds..." well then that's a solution...
You do see the difference?
Stating that you cannot get a 24 hour clock discourages people who might otherwise find a solution. My radio is no different than anybody else's yet it has that feature turned on and therefore there is a solution out there.
Same as stating that there is no way to unlock all the doors at the same time using the OEM key. Yet some have that capability. Therefore there is a solution to this problem out there. It maybe you don't have the technical savvy to do so.

And you have an aftermarket lock/start system on your car that's irrelevant to stock Fits here, so you really don't have anything useful to ad beyond that fact.
