I'm really trying to stay with this site. But I have to vent.

VENTING------> I am really, really, trying to stay positive. I just want to pull my hair out and burn it when a thread is started, a smartass chimes in and makes some smartass statement (because they can on the internet and if they did in person they would most likely get punched in the mouth) and the thread goes off into the oblivion. The back and forth goes on and on, and one has to try to navigate through multiple posts to try to get the information they might be looking for. Of course the thread starts to repel most, and it ends up cluttering up the whole works. I am not talking about friendly debates or even strong opinions either. If you would not say it directly to someones face, you don't say it.

Example:

Someone states "I use high octane fuel in my Fit. What do you guys use?

Reply: " You are totally stupid for using that stuff and wasting your money. "

No effort to explain anything, just a thread bomb dropped.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Maybe you should pick it up then?

New to the forum, and complaining about it.. you really think that will win hearts and minds?

The problem here is most folks don't search, do that and save yourself the hassle.

If you've found something truly novel that has not been covered, you won't catch any flak. Re-hash an age old conversation thats been beat to death, resurrected and killed again?

Well expect some people having fun at your expense. This is the internet, not a place to come for a pat on the back. This is a public forum, your opinion is every bit as valid as our derision.

Good luck kid, and get a helmet 'cuz like so many before you in this last year alone.. I anticipate a bumpy ride.

It's cause it's a simple car.

Hey congrats on your new Fit! What are you going to do with it? New floor mats? Maybe some Swift springs? Sweet me too! Any engine mods? Na bro, there's no point unless you want to mill the intake manifold and who wants to risk that on a brand new car? Just leave it the way it is. Use the paddles. Get 42MPG anyway; 30 and below is for suckers. Here's my JDM window washer plug. Look at the elephant I carried home from PetCo. Have I missed anything?

But that's just reality. Sometimes a tidbit of new advice comes out of it. The people aren't overly irritating. Could be worse. And if YOU have something interesting to do or try with your Fit or other cars, I'll be interested to read about it :P

Most of the time you can tell where a thread is headed looking at the user name.

op- no worries. go to your 'control panel' and click 'ignore list' and just type their handle there and 'save.' you wont have to see their post any more when you log in.

as for your octane question, you can use regular as the car was made to run on regular gas. adding premium wont really hurt it, but it wont do anything beneficial other than possibly making you feel good you added premium gas.

I'm pretty newb here, but compared to the Mazda forums I'm registered at, this one seems pretty laid back IMO lol...

I guess it may have to do with my age, but I long ago have stopped let what others post get to me even when it's been directed at me. I look at most things in life as first world and third world problems rating each as they come up.

Most of the time the get a first world rating and don't warrant much worry. When something rates as a third world problem that usually gets my attention pretty quick.

As an example someone backed into my brand new Fit the other day, that is a first world problem, upsetting and disappointing?, sure but not as critical as shelter and food. It does help to put things in perspective.

Kechan, your advise on the blocking feature was awesome. That cleared up some frustration immediately.

I realised something (finally) today after re-reading my original post whilst in a blinding fit (lol) of forum rage, and the repsonses shortly thereafter. My "example" question regarding fuel octane was the only thing I could think of that could cause a negative reaction when the question was posed to more experienced forum members. I was not actually asking the question myself. I am actually very familiar with this subject and subsequent conversations regarding fuel quality and pre-detonation, but again, I was just throwing an example out there. My timing was poor, and I guess that back-fired.

One poster insinuated that my small number of posts may equal no ability to contribute to the site. This seems odd, but I can understand. I do have about 20 years experience in the automotive retail service arena (mainly Toyota and Honda) though, maybe that counts for something, maybe it doesn't. I don't know.

But since I have your attention for a second, I need some help. I don't know where to plug this 20 HP "chip" in that I bought on Ebay.

Jokes. I got jokes.
