Who killed Elaine Herzberg? Not the driver of the car that ran her over — because there was no driver. And therein lies a problem.

What good are the safety features if the owner can disconnect them? If that happens, the courts have to come down HARD on them! Not let them go. Bizarre!

I find it interesting that Uber disabled that safety feature to provide a smoother ride experience. And that it is unlikely for them to be held accountable for their decision, especially now that they have settled with the homeless person's family. How much does murder cost?

Most claims are being handled like this in this space. The car makers vastly prefer a personal auto liability model over a product liability one. I'd expect most car makers will settle like this until the regulatory regime catches up
