Ek Civic vs Fit.

Thinking of getting a civic and selling the fit. Convince me the Fit is better?

I drove an EK before I remember to be very fun and communicative feedback behind the wheel.

This fit lacks personality? Not as fun as the old civic. Agree or disagree?

The EK is more fun.

The EK is 10-20 years older & doesn't have to abide by modern crash standards.

I would ask: comfort or performance?

The EK will be more fun and its [literally] years ahead of the Fit in terms of aftermarket support. BUT you can still get cheap GE Fits with under 50k miles on them, they have more space, they will ride better, the AC will work, they will be a little nicer to live with day-to-day.

Idk man. I just bought an '09 Base and it reminds me a lot of my old Hondas, but my fiance can still fall asleep in it on road trips.

The EK is better looking, and has way more aftermarket support. Because of it's age, finding a low milage one will be difficult. The whole thing comes down to what you're going to use the car for. If you drive very little and want a fun car then buy the EK. If this is going to be transportation and I get the Fit isn't fun, then keep the Fit. Buying a old modded or high milage EK won't be reliable daily transportation. It will require the maintenance of any old car. Buying a low milage EK and turning it into a high milage EK because of a long work commute is just silly.

A well kept EK is 100% still reliable daily transportation.

They don't even compare. The EK is old and very outdated. The Fit is a better built car overall.

And yet modifying the EK will always be way more fun and a more enjoyable place to spend time if done well.

Ek is a cult classic and well sought after.A legend in the Honda game.Fit is not even on that level.

To that point: I'd be worried about an EK getting stolen. No one ever notices my Fit.

That's true.

I will probably just keep it as daily. The two thngs that annoy me about this car is the notchy inconsistent gear shift although lately it's been fine ( sometimes i crunch gears) because of the blaming clutch delay valve. The other thing is the lack of torque you really have to rev it to get anywhere (rev hang)..

Other things like the vague steering and noise. But that's not too bad.

It handles good though. I can't fault that part. The roominess and magic seats are cool features.

If a Fit has too little torque you’ll hate a proper Honda engine.

The civic Si has 205 hp and 194 lb-ft. Hope we can swap it in our fit bayby!

I checked out an EK civic. It has that old school smell. The wind up windows and you need to pop the boot from the inside AH, the nostalgia. Surprise how small it is compare to the GK5. Even the sedan looks tiny compared to today standards. Fatty small oval shaped hatch.
