i test drove a M/T Fit!

Yeah so i went with my dad to fix my mom's 330i from a small accident and a Honda dealer was next door. I have been wanting a fit for a LONG time and was considering other very good alternatives (05' STI, 02-05' M3, 95-98 M3, RSX S, TSX) But for some reason the fit stood out alot to me. So i begged my dad to let me test drive one!!! He didnt want to because the salesman pressure you to buy and im not getting my license for 4 months but i finally got him to check one out. I spotted only one on the lot and it was a silver base... i prayed for it to be manual... YESSS!!!!

So i tried it out and floored it and stuff but only got to drive it in the small streets. Here are a few things i dislike, REALLY LIGHT STEERING! my mom's BMW is pretty heavy and i like that! when car was off, i was testing out shifter which felt smooth except 5th gear was wierd, anyone else feel this? well besides that, i think the power was adequate and enough for me, although i dont know how it'd do on the freeway.

Clutch engagement seems pretty easy, my sister has an RSX type S and it shakes a lot unless im really trying. Also, does anyone else notice the rear upper hatch, like where the spoiler in the sport model would be, is VERY THIN METAL? kinda scary cause the car may dent easily. Also the seats seem a bit high, maybe too optimized for short japanese people? lol well im only 5'9 so i shouldnt say anythign. Otherwise, the engine is SMOOTH and i FORGOT to test the stereo... interior seemed pretty quiet but again i was in little streets max i went was like 40.. Quality seems high too! I think in 4 months i'll be rollin' with a Blaze Orange or Blackberry Fit Sport! I look forward to attending meets :D

Hehe I think the fit is quick enough to boot around in the city, winding up the lil 1.5 vtec to the rev limiter is funny too :) Coming from my 1.8 i-vtec was a bit of a shock, because I hit redline in the fit way faster! It scared me the first time I hit the rev limiter, but honestly I think this fit shifts smoother then my 07 civic did!

Oh and I just want to add that the stock MT shifter is very very lame!! It feels like a big rubber ball wtf! :D Luckily I have a titanium knob and that was the first thing I switched, it made the shifting so much better.

are you kidding? it looks so secxy!! but i think the feel isnt good, im considering those "Drift" knobs, you know like the really long ones that kinda look like a beer tap thing. In transparent pink!!! :D but then the feel might suck so maybe a titanium knob is better

When you test frive the sport you will notice a HUGE diffrence from the base. For 1000$ more you get a ton of very usefull things!

Yeah i definately need the Sport, im also wanting to get the HFP muffler, rubber floor mats, trunk lid, and trunk tray. Does anyone with a HFP muffler think its loud on highways? my dad wouldn't let me drive in the streets/highway since i only have my permit and so i didn't get to see how loud it was. Other mods i want include: LaminX clear bra kit and headlight covers, honda window visors, tint, HID (4300k headlights 3000k fogs), rims..possibly 16 or 15' spoons, and TEIN coilovers. Still deciding if intake is worth it...

Does anyone think the new "Tidewater Blue" will not look good? I like Blaze Orange and the Blackberry Pearl but the blue seems cheap to me.. what do you guys think?

I went to the dealership once to test drive one because me and my friend were bored haha, they had like 5 sports and 1 base all in auto. I was stuck with the base... Automatic base was not too impressive i believe the paddle shifters would have been a MAJOR step up because most of the people in my area can't drive manuals i hope to be able to test drive a manual and see how i like it

If you had the option of getting any of those cars you mentioned...why not get one? Your talking about a E46 M3? TSX? STI? Why would you get a FIT?

its versatility! well and also (excluding TSX) its prolly tons more reliable and cheaper/easier in maintenance! And fuel efficient (doesnt matter...). I don't know for SURE if i want it yet... like 85% yes but i haven't test driven any other choice yet, mainly cause my dad doesnt want to since a lot of dealers hassle you into buying TODAY! like when i tested the Fit they asked us to leave a number and asked specifically what i wanted. I dont know if i mentioned this earlier but i told them about the deletion of white to the line-up and they had no idea. i hope its true so i dont look like an idiot..

The RSX, TSX All also all Hondas...so maintenance and reliability are equal and the support you get from Acura will be 100% better then a Honda usually. You should definently test drive the TSX, I think that would be a far better choice.

Also I see your in GG, head over to Honda World on Beach Blvd, they have a pretty knowledgeable staff that work there.

But most definitely test drive the other Honda/Acuras on your list.

Well im 16 and they let me drive it because i was with my dad. I can get a good car ALL depending upon my grades which... i dont know if they can get too well cause im REALLY horrible in school! As for the M3... Its hot and all but Ahhh maintanence and gas mileage and reliability ussues! I think its still worth the insane 3.2L 333hp engine though. Maybe a non-///M 330i/ci would be nicer on the wallet.. Plus the fit is SO cute and versatile and such!! lol i think it drives OK. Its not blindingly fast but not horribly slow either. Maybe if i get it i can take turns with my sister. She owns an RSX Type S and a 93' RX-7. lol she wants me to take her RSX since shes tired of all manuals. But its all keyed and has damage on the front a little, rear a little, and a small dent on the driver's side... I have a feeling the car has "Bad Luck"... So how do you guys like the 03'-06' BMW 330i/ci, 03'-05' BMW ///M3, Acura TSX, Subaru STi, RSX?... lol its hard to decide NOW since i have never been in a TSX or STI or M3. Sorry for rambling on but i'm lost myself..

Man i was thinking the same thing?!? Try test drive a car here and they want to see and make copies of your drivers licence before you even get into the car! And as for my first car - it was a friggin' Daewoo Matiz!!!!

Ive got the 1.5 VTEC Sport model and my dealer called it Black Amethyst Pearl. Now ive got a feeling that this is the same as the Blackberry Pearl you are talking about. When i first saw that colour, i went nuts, went to my nearest dealer and told him to order me one. Oddly enough the colour is not popular here so there were only a few left, of which i managed to get my hands on one. In the sunlight its this stunning deep metallic plum purple and in the shade it looks black. I love it, even though it is difficult to keep clean.

that's exactly what im afraid of... i FEAR black cars! The highly visible swirls... the HOT summers! the fading! I need to see the color in real life before i really decide. I never had experience with black cars but so far, they look good IF you wax like every month or something rediculous... i dont think i am up to it

Nighthawk Black Pearl FTW. Looks great, and upon closer inspection while washing, I noticed it has blue metallic flakes in the paint! F'ing A(wesome)

Fair enough, it is difficult to keep clean, especially when you are as anal as me and refuse to take your car to a car wash because the people there dont care to clean your car properly and if they scratch it, its no skin off their noses. So my car gets lovingly hand washed almost every week (almost), and believe me, its worth it when you are finished and you stand back and admmire you shiny clean car.
