Hmm...very interesting. I would like to see Toyota do it - as long as it is RWD. I would think it would aslo have to be a sub 20K price to keep in the spirit of the old Corolla.

supposed to be starting at around 12k, prob 15-17 optioned out, and around 2200lbs!! 120hp, RWD, if this gets a good chassis and strong drive train, they'll have a major winner on their hands. Toyota has officially claimed that they are going to create "interesting cars" again. the AE86 is one of their most beloved cars, i hope they know that and bring something just as awesome to market, and not just for JDM either!!!!

What the tC should have been

If they do make this, I don't know if they'll bring it to the States. It'll compete directly with the Scion tC, and honestly, I'd just buy this if it is RWD and not too heavy. Even if it does come RWD, it's prolly going to weigh a ton like all new cars do. And it'd be nice if they could tune the 2.4l I4 that they run in the tC to rev a little higher and put out at least 180-200. It would give Toyota a serious competitor in that car segment of pocket-rocket cars.

I just hope it doesn't look as ricey as the concept. The simple lines, affordability and basic sporty characteristic is what set the levin apart from the rest of the crowd back then. I really want to see this, another datsun 510, maybe an RX-3, or 2002i again in modern form. Those cars were just basic, affordable, sports classics just like the FIT will be:D .

looking at the numbers, by the time it reaches america (if is more like it:() it would probably lose a few hp, gain about 200-300 pounds, and be one color lol; it would be just ahead of the fit for power/weight, but it will (hopefully) be rear wheel drive. 120ps is about 117-118 hp, which you can prolly lose 10 crank hp from emissions here; and 1000kg is about 2200lb which will grow to somewhere between 2400-2500 pounds.

that said; i would buy one without a seconds hesitation:cool: it would be the return of the fun, cheap, rwd car. the only other car i want in the states is the beat:D

With Hyundai coming out with their RWD coupe 4 cyl starting at $17k, and an optional v6 (the sedan is rumored to be getting their 4.6l v8) it's going to be interesting the next few years in the FR market.

if one on them (prolly the toyota) comes with an lsd as std. or opt., it'll be a REAL crowd pleaser :D

WOW! I was just ranting in another thread about the lack of an affordable light weight i4 powered RWD car... I'm not crazy about the styling, but I'de live with it.

Can't wait! If it does come over here, there will be a for sale sign on my Acura quick, fast and in a hurry:D.

Wonder what it will be called (obviously not AE86 seeing how The "A" represents the engine family i.e 4AGE, 4AFE..etc)?
