Honda S2000

My friend on the forum said there are a handful of Fit owners that also own a S2000. I love the S2000 and Fit from the Honda line so I thought it be cool to talk about the roadster.

I already know some of you own one, please post about it!

i am an ex-s2000 owner. i loved it. '02 sebring silver. due to numerous tickets/accidents i eventually made the choice to sell.

do i miss her? you bet i do. the shifting, the sound of the engine, 9k revs, digital display, and of course cruising with the top down. i'll probably get another after i graduate from college.

I think the newer one was like 8k rev limit with like 2.2 liter engine.
Hmmm 9k 2.0liter or 8k 2.2 liter.

I have a 05 s2000 :)

while the 9k redline is more appealing .. the ap2 (04+) s2ks are more of a comfortable daily driver as they have more tq .... and are not quite as harsh

not to mention .. the front and rear of the ap2 IMO is much nicer then the ap1

i picked up my rio yellow 05 the same day i got my FIT ... 12k miles .. honda certified .. lojack ... had the rear lip wing already installed for 21k OTD .... couldnt even come close to justifying buying new when the 05 could be had that cheap

here are a couple pics

I'm a previous 2000 New Formula Red AP1s/c owner. I miss that car daily. Car was sick fast. Unfortunately I made a poor tire choice so I never got to really get the full acceleration effect. Best I could muster in the Q/M was a 13.2 but that was with total 1st gear wheel spin and a 2+ second 60ft :( The last race i ran it with was against a low 11 second SRT4 and had I not spun 1st gear horribly I would have won easily cause at the line we were nose to nose.

Can't remember my s2ki member number for the life of me but I am a paying member over there as well.

Mods:
Comptech Supercharger with a Paxton Novi1000 Compressor
Comptech aftercooler
Turbo XS RFL welded to the A/C.
Carbon Creations CF vented hood
Spoon SW388 by Desmond Performance (the 35mm ones to clear the monoblock calipers ;) )
Crappy Yokohama AVS tires - horrible for the power it put down.
Skunk2 TB
Custom Exhaust that was swapped for a Skunk2 Mega Power right before selling

SpokanejdmGD3, you say you had tire problems. i am curious as to why you didn't keep the potenzas, i thought they were outstanding. of course mine was bone stock, so i wasn't putting down that kind of power. nice pics btw.

as for ap1 vs ap2... i hear the ap2s are much more forgiving in hairy situations, i've never driven one so someone who has been in both might confirm that. and i believe the performance numbers are the same for both engines, the 2.0 and the 2.2 because of slightly different gearing. i just can't imagine 8k being more fun than 9k. as for looks, i would have to agree that the front/rear looks way better on the newer models. the headlights are also way sexier.

i used mine as a daily driver for about 3 years and never had a problem with comfort. i see in a lot of reviews that comfort is an issue, which always confused me. maybe i just assumed the "harsh" ride came with owning a roadster. or maybe my "enthusiastic" driving never provided the time to observe such things....

first gen S2000 could surprise you with snap oversteer. one good way to not have that be a problem is to get some time in a kart and become familiar with throttle lift rotation. i really really enjoyed my S2000 time, though i never owned one myself. for a while, it was S2000 or Boxter S. i still don't know which i'd choose.

All nice high res pics. Personally I like the look of the AP1 but I wouldn't freak out if I had a choice for a AP2.

Revs to 9, how big are you? Sat in a 07 awhile back and I couldn't budge when sitting haha. Little cramped but no body roll nonetheless. =D

I use to own a berlina black s2000, but sold it due to tickets and my baby that was on the way. I'll be buying another s2000 soon, just wanting for a ticket to fall off my record

Yeah the Potenzas were great for the Pre-s/c days. Plus the Spoonies were 8 inches wide out back and the the Potenzas just din't take advantage of that added footprint they offered. Right around the end of the cars tenure with me I had some RT615s and I must say that they made a whole world of difference on that car.

I still wish I would have got it dynoed and tuned more. It was running on the factory ECU with 10psi of boost and the basic bolt-ons along with the blower. Suprisingly well too. It had a lot more potential with an AFC or Emanage though.

Sad to have had to see it go.

i guess i didn't think about wheel size being different. i would imagine that was a hard one to let go....

as for my size..... 6'1" about 160lbs. i let one of my buddies drive it on a regular basis--6'0" about 210lbs.--and he never complained either. i supose if you are much taller than that it could be an issue, but i thought i fit pretty well into the cockpit.

im going to be getting the backyard seat rails to lower the seat an inch .. should make things more comfortable

Hey if this guy can fit in an s2k and not complain I think any of us can do it within reason. :D

He is 7 ft tall and he fit, barely, but he fit in the drivers seat. I'm 6 feet but I am also a bean pole so I found that height wise I was ok. I moved a lot in the seat under hard driving due to my thin nature. :D

As for Ap1 or 2. I love the look of the AP1 front with the wide opening but I love the rear of the AP2, in particular the exhaust styling.

As far as motor goes I still gotta stay AP1 cause 9 is greater than 8 and from what I experienced that added 1grand does make a difference. At least when s/c'ed. The comptech makes power straight to factory fuel cut and really I'm sure would keep going if it wasn't there.
