Gear shift lock out

Gear shift lock out

Gear shifter has locked up on my 2001 honda accord ex.There is a shift
release lock in the paner on the shifter that can be pressed to realse
this .What caused this lockup and can it be fixed without going back to
the dealer?

IIRC, there is a recall for that. Check it out at http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/

There's probably a little slit to stick your key in by the gear shift so you
can at least defeat the mechanism until you get it fixed.
