The new motor will be junk.

what? how do you know this? this motor manages to accelerate this car which weighs hundreds of lbs more than its predecessor in not that much more time!

i agree that sometimes that newer cars may not be as focused, but then there is also such thing as some people not liking change.

as far as looks go, lets not forget that most of us here drive a car that when not shod with a bodykit, is VERY remiscent of a Chevy Aveo.

according to all the tests out there, the new evo is only FRACTIONALLY slower (a few tenths for all you number whores out there because apparently thats all that matters.) and it handles even better.

only the new sti is faster, and yeah if money wasn't an issue, i'd take one of those.

i personally can't wait for the ralliart to come out, especially since it offers some real performance, for something less than 30k.

most people don't like the new motor due to the aluminum block. so many people have achieved 450whp and greater on stock internals on the 4g63 with true reliability (sustained boost, high load, high heat road race conditions) that the switch to the aluminum block almost guarantees that the new evo will have to produce less power to achieve the same reliability. which is ok, 350whp (dynojet) is plenty to go enjoy yourself; it's just that the evo 8-9 has combined serious power with world class handling (a track slut's dream, being in a 30k supercar) in a package accessible to people with normal salaries. the new X chose to "improve" aesthetics and go with a a more electronics based approach to chassis tuning, gained a bit of weight in the process, and features MIVEC on intake and exhaust (finally) to further improve MPG/ emissions. i don't think that any of these are bad by any means. they just don't interest me, except the MIVEC.

i just honestly can't think of a better mass production 4-cyl motor in the world if you're looking to reliably producing egregious amounts of power for very little money (literally, $1300 and you get 340whp, dynojet) while knowing that it will do it season after road race season and still get you around 27mpg highway.

you know, i was just thinking and it seems to me that the evo 9 is so much more visually different from the lancer than the exo x is from its lancer counterpart, eldaino. the 9 has such bigger fenders and very strong lines whereas the evo x and the base lancer seem to share the same fenders. and in all honesty, that's probably the #1 thing i don't like the evo x.

honestly, i think they're really ugly. evo 8's and 9's looked bad as fu*k. these look like commuter cars with a nasty side hidden way beneath a bunch of plastic parts and uninspired body lines. i was looking forward to it, but as someone said earlier in this thread, its yet another new car to throw on the snore zone list. (R.I.P. WRX)

Not a fan of the car or company! Reminds me of a wanabe Skyline. If I had the money not quite sure I would spend it on either rally rocket "STI/EVO". With an MSRP @ 35K and markup w/ taxes n tags etc...your looking close to 40K!
Honestly for the money i would rather pickup a 2008 Honda S2K CR. The MSRP is starting 36K and the potential is greater!! And it's a HONDA. These are my thoughts.:)
