hahah another excellent vid tony. you should win an oscar for these. i don't get how he ran a 13.05 and could beat a 400whp supra? the supra should be killing the civic if that's the civic's best time? (or did i miss something in that vid?)

ha ha! yeah that was classic.
i don't care who you are or what kind of experience you have, sometimes the only replacement for displacement is LESS displacement!!!
talk about walking away with your tail between your legs. ;)

From what I have read as well.....the guy driving the civic is not the BEST.

hmmm...dunno if the fact that is was an auto makes that much of a difference...as they put out so much power, its neglible. most supras out there, if i'm not mistaken, are auto's anyway.
who is driving the civic?

Granted the newer AUTO's have more control over the engine but this particular Supra isn't new.
As far as ALL Supra's being Auto.....I am not sure I agree with you! I would think it would be the opposite.

This is a pretty interesting article on the history of the Toyota Supra....looks like they offered them in both AUTO n MANUAL.

IMO there is a difference in AUTO/MAN. Manual's have total control over the engine, exactly were I like to be! Auto's (and not knocking them) you do not have that luxury.

tony i think you misunderstood me, i know there are plenty of manual supras out there, its just that most of the ones that i or my buddies have seen are usually auto's as manual transmissioned ones are simply harder to come by. in fact, the link you provided (thanks by the way ;)) shows that there are a few models (including turbo charged ones) that in certain years were ONLY available as automatics. (most notably being the 1996 model, which is the last gen mkIV bodystyle.)
i agree, a manual give you a lot more control over the engine, the only transmission that 'beats' it to a certain degree is vw/audi's dsg, because its the best of both worlds.
just wanted to clear it up!

i second the auto thing being faster in a straight. my buddy smokes manual cars in his built supra. from the tranny up to the block, it is at 800 whp without nitrous.
he can never miss a shift, and it is precise shifting to wear he wants it.
