Thats pretty common now days, its popping up on more and more new cars. If you get rear ended you get pushed back into the seat, when weight is pushed into the seat it pushes the headrest forward to meet the back of your head and help reduce whiplash. Its simple but effective, when talking about safety every little bit helps.

Overall cool car to drive. Its got more power then the Fit but not all that much more. It seems like the Fit could keep up with the little scion. Handling want as good as the Fit. Steering felt to light and unconnected. easy little car to drive though. It will be perfect for my moms around town needs. I took a few quik pics a sec ago. Soon a xD/Fit shoot!

Tyler

so your mom is "doin' it right"

Good point.

Edmunds insideline usually does great reviews...but every once in awhile they'll do something that just leaves you scratching your head.

Even though the Fit sport they compared their brand new xD to was 6months old, it STILL put up better slalom and grip numbers, and retained a steering feel and body lean that was unmatched.

the things they said that the xd did better was offer more interior appointments, less bumpy, more gutsy and quiter.

All things that the new 09 fit is addressing.

My take was that a brand new car SHOULD be better than a car designed back in 2001 right? Even then, it was still a close call.

One thing i did find odd though was that they said they had 'high revving vtec aspirations' with regards to the fits acceleration...and then they were let down at the 6500 rpm redline and the low hp for a small honda motor. Why they would feel this way about a car that has been in their fleet FOR SIX MONTHS is beyond me...they should have already known what it was going to be like! Duh.

I dont hate the xD, (you should see what a lot of xD owners feel about the fit though, its hilarious) but like you Tyler, i prefer the fit. Leave the 09 to tie refinement AND sporting intent.

It looks ok in white, congrats to your mom!:)

Congrats to your mom! xD isn't for me, but your mom's a smart woman to realize that an efficient, fun hatch is a great way to roll.

Rims and carbon on the way? ;)

Exactly! Hopefully more mothers are seeing the light so we have fewer 5000lb unguided missiles on our streets!

Haha thanks man. Yeah the Fit got my mom hooked on little hatch backs haha.
Rims forsure, but she said thats the only thing we(me and my dad)could do to it. But its ohh so tempting lol. Black rims are to come for it. Probaly some 17"s!

So far she likes her xD better then my Fit. She likes the height, the Scions much higher. But my fit is lowered. The steering is "easier", its lighter. I personally like my Fits better. And the power she likes more in the xD. I also agree with that lol. Although i find the L15a smoother throughout the rev range. So far they are both great cars. The Fit is much better for me though!

There should be a rule that people need to write above the level of a 3rd grader who just learned curse words. At least then we can try to mask the stupidity on the internet, it will be a lot more pleasant for all of us.

Its just the angle i took the pic at, it makes it look like it blocking the tach. When you sit in the car, it doesnt block anything. Its just there to break up the Speedo from the tach.

i find it kinda cool from looking at the tach again how it seems to have a built in scan guage to tell you MPG and all that good stuff. Wish fits had that.

I almost got this car before I got my fit. It was down to the two, but the pricing for the fit was actually better. The xd does come with more little amenities though. The ride actually felt a lot cushier.
