Bought a 2008 xD today!

Yupp, we just came home with MY MOMS 2008 White xD!
We went to Toyota first to look for Corollas but my mom fell in love with the xD. She test drove it and loved it even more. Shes been driving my Fit often and she says it reminds her of the Fit but with "more power!" lol. Its nice, i like it. Not as much as the Fit but i do like it. It has some really cool features(ipod hook up, signals in mirrors, pioneer sound system).
Pics to come! Ive yet to drive it, im going to take it out for a quik cruise in a sec. Also pics to come!

Ill do a comparison(between xD and Fit)after a week or so, so i can get the feel for it. So far they are very similar.

Took for a quik little spin around town.
Overall cool car to drive. Its got more power then the Fit but not all that much more. It seems like the Fit could keep up with the little scion. Handling want as good as the Fit. Steering felt to light and unconnected. easy little car to drive though. It will be perfect for my moms around town needs. I took a few quik pics a sec ago. Soon a xD/Fit shoot!

I don't think they look all that bad... but the rear end is just so blah. Plus there's gotta be a nice blind spot with the lack of the rear quarter windows.

On the bright side, they finally figured out that gauges belong off center in front of the driver, lol.

oh the xD has normal style gauges? I didn't know that actually.

Nice little car. I drove both, liked the original xA better--that car is a lot more Fit-like IMO. Also, I don't think the blind spot is too bad. The Fit has a really bad blind spot too, it only looks like there's lots of windows until you get inside and the pillars are freaking the size of trees.

Why is there that ugly grey thing blocking part of the tach?

The Xd sucks.

It was one of the cars I was considering before being the fit. On paper (online) I liked it.... until I went a drove it in person. I hated it. I took it for a decent test drive, like 10 miles or so, by the time we go back my back hurt down by my kidneys, horribly uncomfortable seats. The seat position bothered me alot as well, almost like they made the seat brackets with the rear to high making you lean forward. In my fit it didn't bother me not having a center armrest, in the Xd it did. One of my biggest complaints was the rear center seat belt, its mounted by the c pillar but goes to the middle of the headliner then down to the seat... you can't disconnect it or move it or anything, its always in your mirror and with the seats folded flat you have like 4 feet of seat belt pulled through the inside of the car flapping in the rear view. That was incredibly obnoxious. I didn't liek how much effort was involved in getting the rear flat, not thats its alot of work but I want to flip the seats down and boom your done. Not slide the seats forward, fold them down, then flip the little covers closed just to get a flat surface inside. No wheels, only hubcaps.

It does have some things I liked, better stereo, better stereo options, more power, the rear windows roll down all the way inside the doors instead of sticking up a couple inches.

Overall its not a bad car but person opinion, I hated it.

I figured there would be a fair amount of hate toward it here on fitfreak, just becasue its the Fits rival and all. And in fact i was a xD hater untill i really gave the car a fair chance and really saw what it had to offer. I would never choose a xD over a Fit for me, but the car is for my mom and she really likes it, so here it is lol.
Scions no haggle pricing is the best! It was easiest car transaction we have ever expirienced. Car lists at 16,100$ and thats what we payed. Thats a pretty nice price for the car.

Things i like about the xD

-Information screen tells you milage, how many miles left on a tank, average speed, current MPG, and one other thing im forgetting.

-Rear headrests, when in the down postion are flush with the seat and dont obstruct your view

-Stereo is better

-Signals in mirrors

-16's(even tho they are steelies, that will change soon)

-Exhuast cover standard(i think it looks nice)

-Power

Things i dislike about the xD

-Driving postion(too high)'

-No dead pedal..again like the Fit lol.

-Pretty large blindspots in the rear

-Steering to light

-Handling isnt as direct as fits, more body lean(im going off of when my fit was stock.)

I thought the Fit's and xA's handling were about the same, and both were substantially better than the soft xD. The xD was really step in the wrong direction. It's something like 300lbs heavier than the xA and is 2mpg WORSE on both city and highway ratings! The xA was also cheaper at just $13k, versus $15k for the xD.

Honestly wtf is Toyota thinking these days. Scion was a great brand..... for about 4 years.

I don't hate on because its a competitor of the fit. I was leaning more towards the xD over the Fit until I drove them both. I have no brand towards Honda or any other import cars.

But you did remind me of another thing I didn't like, the rear headrests. The push in to make it easy to fold flat but you need to pull them up before you can sit in the rear seats. The way the headrests go down they slide down the front of the backrest so when you get in you have a lump in your back if you don't put the headrests back up.

Darkstars you are one of those people who won't buy a car if it doesn't have a feature you might use once a year, aren't you?

I'm one of the people that wont buy a car if it has a long list of things I don't like... wait a minuet, thats pretty much describes everyone who has ever shopped multiple cars.

Insideline did it. Of course, they were comparing a 6+ year old car to a 6 month old car.

The Fit is the best in it class but the Xd isn't a bad alternative.
Xd is much better then the new Xb in my opinion.
