HELP ! Need '86 Prelude cooling system info
I have an '86 Honda Prelude 2.0 Si, it has developed a coolant leak. Coming
out of the rear of the water pump housing is a long steel tube that runs
under the intake / injectors. I need to remove this tube and replace it
but I can't figure out how to get it out. Does it just pull out, is it
threaded, do I have to remove the intake to get it out. I'm a motorcycle
mechanic and good skills, but this one's got me puzzled. HELP! HELP!
HELP! Many Thanks!!! Matt

Just pulls out. You just need to remove the thermostat housing, not the
intake. The housing bolts face the firewall, as I recall. They're not the
same bolts you remove to replace the thermostat. Space is tight, and you
may find better access from underneath for the water pump side of things.
It will be pretty rusty and gungy, so you'll need to do lots of cleanup and
light scraping of the housings to make sure the new tube (and its O-rings)
seals properly.

Very likely. I can't see it costing much, though.
You'd be very wise to make absolutely sure it's coming from the tube before
buying a new one.
