Civic SRS light
The SRS (Supplemental Restraint System, i.e. airbags) light came on again in
my 2002 Civic. This is the third time I've had this problem, and it isn't
cheap to fix. There are quite a few complaints already at
http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/. If you've had this problem, but haven't
registered a complaint with NHTSA, you can do it online.
There are apparently a lot of problems with Civic airbags, including many
accidents where the front bags don't deploy at all.NHTSA hasn't opened an
investigation yet, probably because they don't have enough consumer
complaints. Honda has several Service Bulletins out, but no recalls. Yet.

Re: Civic SRS light
You did not remove the seat did you at any time? I have a 2003 Civic
that had an XM satellite radio installed where they mounted the power
converter under the seat. The SRS light came on due to the disconnection
and would not go out. There are some kind of seat connections that tie
into the airbag system.
The radio installer did not have the "code" to cancel the warning
light. So,I had to take it to the dealer to have it reset.I am not saying
this is your problem;just a thought.

Re: Civic SRS light
I've used the info at
http://www.geocities.com/myintegra96/srs.html it works in my
2001 Civic. I used a paper clip to short the connector. Good
Luck, if the light keeps coming on you must have the system
checked by a Honda Shop.

Re: Civic SRS light
No work of any kind has been done under the seat or dash. The SRS light just
came on. I'll take it to the dealer - a 45-mile drive :-( - next week.

My 2003 Civic SRS light came on about a month after I got the car. A
computer module was replaced under warranty.
Where's the Ford deal? If you have a Ford part replaced at the dealer, the
new one has a lifetime warranty...
Honda seatbelts have an unlimited warranty. An SRS computer that is known
to be troublesome should have a no cost Service Bulletin associated with
it.

This one's been asked enough that I've added it to the FAQ under "General".
Thanks for the link.
