yeah honestly it makes no sense to me that a 2.0 na engine developing 197 hp can get almost the same gas mileage as a 1.5 developing 109.... the regualr civic probbably blows the fit out of the water, automatic civic mpg is probably better than the auto fits... why is this... anybody know? go for the si you won't regret it!

your gonna get sacraficed for this... i already have once... wanted to get the new 4dr. but decided not to cuz there is nothing in my honda manuels at work or on service bulletins about the 3rd gear shake and it was too risky when there was no feasable reason to get rid of my fit... good luck tho

both of my friends have the white civic si sedan(one with navi), honestly, i won't get rid of my fit for one of those, the gas mileage is not as good as you think it would be, 24-25mpg average, the fenders/body panels on the exterior is just really bad, the dont match as well as the fit. and remember, the fit is 100% JDM, the si... 75% or more USDM...your choice

i think the fit worths 14,500 at most, depends on your mileage.

The 8th gen Civic's are almost 100% US. The transmissions are made in Japan.

Do it...it's a fun car and has plenty of room. I've been getting 30mpg+ for a while now.

Civic 1.8L has the same tech as my Z4 -- reduced pumping losses by keeping the intake valves open during part of compression and keeping the throttle body wide open, just like the Prius. This is called Atkinson cycle instead of Otto cycle. My Z4 indicates 26.1 mpg average right now, just to and from work and shopping for a couple weeks, pretty decent, and 31 real-world on the freeway.

Fit has none of that fancy intake stuff.

Only reason why I asked is because the rears are pushed flush to the fenders and the fronts are sucked in.
Looks like a +45mm front and +30mm, +28mm rear

the regular civic doesnt stomp all over the fit. it only has slightly higher grip and a better ride. gas mileage is better though.

but c'mon you guys, why bother trying to get 35mpg on a civic si that is made for high revs? you dump the economobile for a sport compact to drive more ecnomically? use it for what it was made for!

the reason the auto civic does better is because its a newer engine with different gearing. simple as that.

and the auto fit is rated much better than the civic si as far as mileage goes, the auto fits city mileage almost bests the si's highway mileage!

not to mention the si drinks PREMIUM.

well, I read about the 3rd gear problem.. There's a bulletin on it already. And doesn't seem like the 2008 models have this problem..

Im gonna get the car back to stock as possible and try to sell. If i dont sell, then so be it. but if i do.. I will be purchasing the Si end of Sept..(long story, insurance, bday over 25 etc.etc.)

My best so far is 35mpg...but I am determined to get 40mpg...haha...this car is a great daily driver and when you want to have some fun just get it in Vtec and take it all the way to 8200rpm...or for my car, 8600rpm...heheh
