In your FACE!!
In your FACE!!
I was jsut driving home and i had to go up a big hill. behind me was sum chevy "daewoo", so, its 4 cyl vs. 4 cyl whose gunna keep up? as always, i have my car in sport, switched to second gear n went up, and what do ya kno? that "daewoo" is still down there!!! ahahahahhahaha :rotfl: in your face!! i kno its a shitty car, but it feels good that i still have some performance in my car =P
anyone else got any "in your face!"?

nice man :D I hate going up steep hills and bridges because I always end up behind someone. I like to go about 70-80 before the steepness begins, so I don't have to downshift to 4th and be revving at 3500-4000rpm. That shit sucks.
lol ok so maybe that was the wrong word, but before the hill the speed limit is 40, on my auto, in drive, it would go down to 25-35, buh wit sport, wee hee!! 45 at least lol, so yea sucks to be him =P but u could be right
only the sport fit (theres base and theres sport) has this. and theres no D3 D2 or D1, its just P, R, N, D, and S. no clutch, you can press on the gas n still shift. it uses paddle shifters to shift (similar to whats used in formula 1 cars). the big difference, the Drive mode is more "jumpy", meaning it will go from 3000 RPM to 4000 RPM in a flash, the G force no feel good >.< sports mode, you can ease up there or w/e, no jumps. and you can go all the way to 8000 RPM without shifting, where as the Drive mode will shift around 4000 RPM, blowss lol
You can use the paddles whether your in "D" or "S". The only difference is in "S" if you hit a paddle it'll have the letter "M" in the gear indicator and the gear your in; the "M" meaning that your in manual mode and will have to upshift yourself. In "D" you can still upshift and downshift with the paddles, just after doing so and driving normal for a few seconds the transmission will go back into full automatic.
I have a simalar story like this, strangly also involving an Aveo.
I had the sport in "D" and was slowly turning onto another road which was an overpass. I'm beaning along doing about 40 MPH (Speed limit is 45 on the other side of the overpass) going up the road and this person in an Aveo decides to ride my bumper. Noticing this, my foot accidentally "slipped" and I mistakenly shifted into "S". The Fit drops into 2nd gear and the sweet sound of the L15A VTECing echoing through an HFP muffler broke the morning silence.

I have a couple of those. About 2-3 months ago, I was coming back from the dragway (closed due to "rain") with a friend riding shotgun, and about to get on the freeway. Someone in a Lexus ES was unsure of whether to try to turn onto the onramp, and the light was turning yellow. All oncoming traffic had stopped. I just went around the Lexus before the light even turned red.
Then, about 2 weeks ago, I was about to go into the Mall of Georgia, and the light was red. There are 2 left-turn lanes, and the right one had about 4 cars, and the left one had none. I decided to change from the right one to the left one, and as I was creeping up (2 mph), the light goes green. I see this red-with-white-stripes Prelude with a very loud exhaust start moving, and I smoked him. I hit the rev limiter while passing him and got in front of him with 20-30 feet to spare.
I still got 40+ MPG that day.
Of course, I'm sure he'd beat me in a straight-up race, but it was still fun.

8,000rpm!?!?!?!??!?
I wouldn't know if this was possible bcause I always shift at the redline of 6500RPM if I take it that far. I'm not sure where fuel cut-off is.
Does the engine even continue to make power at this level? Seems like it'd be beyond the powerband meaning that shifting sounds like a good idea.
