What is the best Honda series engine to mod, and why?
I just wanted to start a discussion of what is the best engine to mod as in... responds to mods and can withstand the power.. out of all the Honda series engines. Please PM me if I am missing any engines as I am not a Honda guru by any means.. Please PM with what cars these engines went into..

PM sent with more engines! I have no opinion on the best to mod. I enjoyed my nitrous F20B, but modding it was a nightmare, and I do like the user friendly nature of my D16Z6.

My 93 Accord had an F22. 130hp lol.
I'd say the B-series is the best to mod. The K will become the new B sometime in the next few years. But right now the B has so many damn options it's ridiculous.

I completely agree!!

Well, like 900 different manufacturers for each upgradable engine part. The K series doesn't have 873642365924659 different companies to choose from yet.
really..
the b series was nice, but the k series has WAY more potential. for instance, the b series always suffered from lack of torque. of course torque is what accelerates a car. the k series totally makes up for that. not only is a K20 starting off larger than a b series in terms of displacement (which makes more torque), but the potential for increased displacement is larger on the k series. also, the k series can be frankenstiened with a k24 head from the acura TSX-s (vigor?). so you can potentially achieve a K20/24 hybrid then bore and stroke it (lol....stroke.) to get something like a K26!!!! again, more displacement= more torque=more acceleration. the b series came with 160hp , but only a measly 100ft lbs. of torque.... lame.
well i say this ive driven both . 95gsr w/ intake/exhaust. and ive driven an 05 rsxS w/ i/h/e. aside from the fact that the GSR was from 95 and feels just a lil older i like the feel of the b series. a lil more rowdy and when vtec hits. GOOD GOD. the two have raced and the gsr wins 8/10 times
but then again this isnt a thread about which is faster, so i apologise for straying away from the subject
but i still stick by the B-series about which is better to mod.

something to think about - how long do you expect to keep the motor/ chassis around? if you expect to continue to develop the motor as time progresses, i would go with the k series. it is a more technically advanced platform even if the aftermarket support isn't at the same level as the b series.
another thing to think about - do you want to lump sum your engine development budget? the b series will probably go further, more immediately, since much of the parts you'll be looking at are available now if you have cash on hand and don't think you'll keep the car forever and want immediate gratification. but if you have to pay as you go and are ok with letting the market mature, you'll probably be happier with the k over time.

btw, is there any reason it has to stay honda?
