US auto industry bailout - funny pic
I got this in an e-mail last week, I had a good laught.
lol, it is funny because it is true :)
Seriously though, if a company f##ks up this bad... they should go bankrupt. Why the hell are they using tax payer money to bail them out, also how is this fair to other companies that go bankrupt every year?

The problem is there is thousands apon thousands of jobs connected to these companies. Don't get me wrong I think they should go down because their morons but there will be issues if they go out of business. You are not only looking at all of their personal employees losing their jobs but also all the companies that work with them loosing their jobs.
Its sucks having to choose.

My sentiments exactly.
I'd rather be saving these failing auto companies with only a fraction of the money from the $700 billion bailout, than to keep feeding the corporate pigs on wall street showering each other with bonuses and benefits while the Federal Reserve refuses to disclose who they're even loaning money ($2 trillion of loans) to.
Corporate welfare. Pffft.

His buddies on Wall street are gorging at the public feed-trough and our kids and grandkids are going to be saddled with the debt.
I'd rather see the wall street investment banks get bankrupted before the automakers.
Wall street went about like drunken sailors, now the hangover is beginning they want the government to soften their fall. screw them.
The automakers actually MAKE something and that's key to an economic recovery. You can't "service industry" your way out of a depression and that's where we are going to wind up unless someone wises up and addresses the fact that America makes very little anymore.
I'll get off my soapbox now.
And I'm not anti Detroit either, my last 5 vehicles were GM or Chrysler and 2 of them are still US made but I had enough of their complete lack of innovation and bought a 2009 Fit and I don't regret that decision EVER.
When the US automakers start making decent quality, high efficiency, reliable vehicles, I'll start buying them.

That's what I mean. The bailout for Wall Street is already here to stay, and it's welfare for those who ruined the economy through their greed and incompetence. At the very least, use part of that money to save these big auto companies and in the process help every company/industry that is affiliated with them, especially since the Big Three make up a big portion of the USA economy. We can't afford to let them slide and go bankrupt in the kind of horrible economic situation we are in already - not to mention the devastating effect it will have on oft overlooked things like unions.
I don't support handing taxpayer money to companies that have failed due to their incompetance, but I can at least understand that in THIS particular case, it is necessary in order to prop up the associated industries and the american economy and workforce which is currently hemorrhaging jobs (think of how many people are going to be unemployed if the Big Three go under - many states are already running out of money to pay unemployment claims, that's how bad it is RIGHT NOW).
If we're going to throw money around to let executives continue buying their multimillion dollar houses and private jets, let's at least use a fraction of that to save and hopefully reform the Big Three into becoming companies capable of producing decent cars again that can compete with the imports.

i was once a tier1 supplier...even won several prestigeous awards from them.
actually our company still is a primary supplier for the commodity we do, but i
dont handle that side now. i learned to move along while things were still dandy.
every car has at least one product i was in charge of.
im in the mobile market now taking some hits but still afloat and growing strong.
dont know how long this will last cause if the us economy goes down due to the
car manuf, so will the mobile market for smartphones.
