Civic exhaust help

any of you guys have much experience with exhaust?
my mom's '00 civic LX (d16y7 i think?) has a crack in the ex. manifold and so it needs replacing to be smogged.

bernardi has the oem manifold for like $430... and so i was looking to see if aftermarket headers were cheaper. something like this:

Megan Racing

so. would this work?
would it still pass smog?
what mods/ extra parts would it need to work properly?

my mom doesn't want power, she wants reliability...
any help would be greatly appreciated.

i doubt megan is CARB EO'd. so it WILL NOT pass smog. check craigslist. people might be dumping theirs. or a local junkyard/ pick-a-part. you could try honda-tech too.

looked them up...
their headers are "race" headers... NOT CARB Legal. :(

i think DCs are CARB EO'd. but dont quote me on that. but its safe to say MOST aftermarket headers are not CARB EO'd and will not pass smog. i know for my car the header had two pre-cats and the the y-pipe had the cat. so when i swapped it out, i would not pass the visual (no CARB EO) or the sniffer test (no cats).

yeah. i read that most DC's are carb legal, but it seems like they're more than the oem manifold.

i'd prefer reputable parts, but maybe something like this?
Honda Civic Pacesetter Black Headers - 1992-2000 Honda Civic - Pacesetter P40701160

does 50-state legal mean CARB approved? i'm gonna guess not, or else it would probably say CARB approved. haha

50-state legal SHOULD mean CARB EO'd. but thats tricky.

but if the OEM one looks like this:

that pacesetter one will NOT work. it looks like OEM one has a precat.

okay, so i found some dc's that seem to be carb approved and are less than $400. but i don't see any that list for the 99-00, LX. is there a big diff in the D16Y7 and Y8?

edit: i just saw the prev. post. that precat makes things tricky. bummer.

hey lex. thanks for all your help. i'll probably call am parts to confirm that it works for a d16y7, but if it does, it'll be a hell of a deal compared to the 600 she was quoted.
