I bought a 89 Accord - what should I do with it?
I just bought a 1989 Honda Accord LX for $100 last night. I have a freind that is pregnant and has to move back to Alabama with her family, and couldn't take the car with her. She was gonna give it to me, but I wanted to help her so I gave her what I had to help out (I really wanted to help some how). Now I'm stuck with three cars. 2008 Honda Fit, 1993 Mustang LX 2.3L and the Accord. The Accord has all power options and lots more luxery than my Mustang. The thing has 190,000 miles on it and needs a clutch, brake master cylinder, upper ball joint on the left front and half shaft on front right. Bleh. Paint is faded and has normal Honda rust above the rear wheels.
Should I fix it and daily or just sell it/scrap it for the $100 I paid?
OR
Sell my Mustang, fix the Accord and daily it?

I think that's what I'm gonna do. The Mustang has a leaky roof and is just as slow as the Accord (maybe slower since it's bigger and heavier). The Accord is roomier and has all power options. The Mustang does not. Bye Bye Mustang! Might sell both and find another 89 Accord. I think they look super clean when in good shape.

The Accord has a bunch of potential. I would sell the Stang and put the money into the Accord. They are great cars and lots you can do with them. Here is my friends Accord with a body kit, new grill, JDM tails and headlights,CF hood, he has a dual exhaust and cold air intake on it:

I posted on 3geez.com to see if anyone has any interest in parts if I part out. Gonna end up spending $334 on the car after I get the car registered and titled in my state, so I wanna get that much outta it. Here are some pics.

use it to jump shit...thats what I thought, get a video camera, find a farmer who doesnt care, or sneak into a good field....then do some good old fashioned terrace jumping. It takes a toll on a car but man it is fun. Or if your a little more brave, find a good set of railroad tracks perched on a hill to jump. Make sure you have the video camera then because if you do it right before a train comes you can get a nice F&F effect!

My girlfreind needs a car that she can drive on the cheap, that is nice and needs to be under $3000. I thought about the idea of us having this one rust repaired and painted and then having the engine rebuilt. That should run us about $2800 and would result in a essentially brand new engine, with warranty from the machine shop, fresh paint and the new brakes, axles and clutch I'm putting in it. Should easily get 280,000 miles out of it after that for under $3000. What do you guys think of that? I can do any of the interior work now that I have some experience doing it (restored the inside of my Mustang, even reupholstered the seats myself).

Yeah, it's an A series. Just saw a few nicely turbo'd A20's on 3geez.com. Maybe they are the exception and not the norm.
I've been looking into B swaps in it too. Innovative just started offering a mount kit for CA5 Accords swapping in a B series (not the fake Prelude B series). Only downside is custom fabricating axles and shift linkage. Although a JDM B16A fully built swapped into a freshly painted CA5 Accord would be the hawtsex.

i think you should just sell your mustang and use the money to save or invest and not mod the accord.
the only reason i see in the buying of the accord is to have a cheap car to drive around for various reasons (i.e. bad weather, going to an unsafe city, carry stuff around, etc). if you plan to put that much money into the accord (swaps, turbo, mods, etc) then you might as well do it towards ur fit. the accord is a 21 year old car..it isnt worth modding.
just drive hte accord as a DD and drive it till it dies then junk it. that way, you'll get your $100 worth and not spend money on a 21 year old car. because it seems initially is that you wanted a reliable DD that you don't have to take care much on..but now it seems you want to mod it and what not.
