Road Rage Ventalation Thread
ok, so nothing like this has never happened to me until yesterday, i was driving home from buying some napkins at party city haha i turned off the main road on to one that takes you around some big office buildings. i was on the left side cause i knew the right lane ended and i was the only one on the road for awhile then i looked in my rear view mirror and saw this HUUGE ASS intercooler just starin at me, then i looked up and there was 3 civic eks just lurkin behind me. i was already going like 2 over, so i was just gonna let them pass me cause i knew they were gonna anyways. so they zoom on by tryin to look cool, but they only went this far *see diagram. and the first 2 merged over leaving the 3rd next to me (cause the lane was about to end) some how he didnt see me/wanted to kill me/was a dumb ass and tried to merge over when i was RIGHT NEXT TO HIM. so i meeped at him and he looks over like he did nothing wrong, he ended up behind me for a couple miles tho :)

Ah, K, the sixth generation.
I think the fourth and fifth generations were the best looking... I remember getting in an 89 Civic hatchback and being shocked at the amount of space in the front seat.
Overall, the 4ths had the sharpest look, but the 5ths had the funky little styling elements, from the doorhandles to the headrests, that really set them off.
But I digress...

I motorcycle to work nearly every day so I concur with your skill ratings. In addition, I must assume that all drivers are out to kill me, which splits about 70/30 as careless driving / people who hate motorcycles.
I disagree about insurance companies. I think they will insure anyone who can get a check to clear. I also suspect that a full half of your above 60% don't bother with insurance. States don't have acceptable tools in place to insure compliance.
The cameras now, in my area their sole purpose is fund raising, not that the state wouldn't like to do more. Most of the ones I see are stop light enforcement, although I have heard of areas with speed cameras.

In some city's they use cameras at all lights to see cars going through. When I use a single axle with a large trailer police follow me until they realize who driving(because they see me every day) and check plate for weight, they never follow me with a big tractor. You will notice cameras going up soon at all intersections, some of them are small so you might not even see them but you will construction work at these intersection that last a day. They want to raise insurance rates and need numbers, also they have unmarked trucks with monitoring equipment in them.
CSA2010 is for truckers right know but something like it is going to apply to everyone very soon. They want to make sure that everyone complies with the law. Insurance and speed, etc.
I have to agree with you about your post Silver Bullet..... I ran a service station for my father and one of the companies that we had service contracts with was Transport Insurance...They had a fleet of nice looking Ford Galaxies that were on the road all of the time catching truck drivers they insured on radar and film in the early 70s.... The cameras that have been set up on the loops around the 2 closest towns to where I live have made a huge difference in the driving habits of the people that drive on them.... Back in the 90s a good friend that drove all out all of the time in a turbo diesel gray market Mercedes equipped with a radar detector and jammer received a ticket in the mail for doing 140MPH in a 55MPH zone with a picture of his car taken from an airplane.

Almost had me an accident yesterday (wednesday).
So when you approach a 4-way stop with a bunch of other cars, you take turns going, right? A minivan turns, and I start moving to take my turn. This man in his "expensive" car, that was behind the minivan, decides it's not my turn and takes off across my path. Luckily, I'm paying attention and let off the gas and tap my brakes some.
Old man, I suggest you re-think that idea next time you cross my path. I'm still driving a Nissan Pathfinder, I will crush you if I T-bone you.
Even though I was going in a different direction, I kept thinking about turning around, chasing him down and asking him "WTF? Are you suicidal in your old age?"

Glad you didn't chase him down, these days people are unpredictable and he might have busted a cap into you thinking you were going to beat him up or something. You just never know. Around here, people double-team a 4-way all the time, if you aren't paying attention, someone will just take your right-of-way. "The guy in front of me stopped, I don't have to!" Most people don't even know how to approach a 4-way anyway. I'd rather let everyone go ahead of me than get into a fender-bender b/c some asshole thinks he's got the right of way.

That must have been a hell of a ticket your friend got! Sheesh. Did he give up speeding after that?
They have these cameras in Europe, they are all over the place. People know where they are, of course, and they still speed in between the cameras, but i guess it's income from people not familiar with the area. I guess you end up getting so paranoid that you don't speed out of fear there will be a camera somewhere....what a world we live in...

I think you have something there..... I think there are a vocal majority of Americans that consider shitting in another persons mess kit a birthright.... Just like on forums like this where people boast of their lack of social responsibility, verbally attack and name call others that take a responsible stand against irresponsible behavior, while demanding that they give them their attention.... Maybe they were spoiled as children and never learned about the consequences of their negative actions.... Maybe socio-pathological behavior runs in their genetic makeup.

I meet a lot of people and there is still HOPE, I drive a 80000 pound truck and I am used to bad drivers, no manners and the attitude that there first when I am in front of them. Nobody is accountable for their actions if they dont get caught. That is why camera's, and laws are changing to control people and as money gets tighter people are going to be more aggressive. The other problem is that nobody is going to like the enforcer of these new laws and might wake up then to find out it to late. I think the young people would freak out 30 years ago when we still had FREEDOM (policing yourself by doing the right thing instead of what feels good or what they think benefits them selfs).
Oh I love your last sentence.... 30 years ago was the end of hope for those that were really in touch with reality.... It began 12 years of lies and deceit when in November 1980 Reagan was elected, greed and corporate became good and the rate of corporate power and inflation went out of control..... It was the beginning of "The Me Generation".... The country has gone to hell since.
I am totally intolerant of people passing slowly. They come flying up on your 6 o'clock, then merge over very gradually, making for your left quarter panel. I am usually inclined to move my Fit as close to the stripe as possible, to give them the impetus to get all the way into the left lane. Usually a quick swerve to the left works very well getting people to move over. If you are going to pass, GET THE NERF into the left lane, and get by me. =steps off soap box=
The other day, I was sitting at a turn lane. I had my turn signal on, but because I still haven't plugged in the front bulb, there's no forward blinkers.
This Mercedes on the other side of the intersection starts to inch forward even though we still had red lights. He KEEPS inching forward until his back end is past the stop line, he's well into the intersection (if a car tried to cross without paying attention, they'd crash).
Of course, the light changes, I get my turn signal, but he still has a red light... now he's STILL trying to inch forward when the cars on my side start moving. I have to honk at him to get him to stop, so that I can turn.
Then the day after, I'm sitting behind a taxi-van that does the SAME thing... inch, inch, inch. By the time the light DOES turn green, he's literally 2/3rd of the way through the intersection already.
I mean, WTH? If you're gonna run a red, f-ing GO. If not, sit the hell still.
On another note... two nights ago, I think I got a ticket, while coming to stop! The intersection had a red light camera and no turn on red signs. I pull to a stop to wait for my turn to turn (front wheel is maybe a foot past the line)... I see a flash. Now, I'm thinking to myself... wtf? I better NOT get a ticket for that shit. I'd understand if the WHOLE car was passed the line or I was halfway through a turn. The line was far enough back that I'd have to get the whole car past the line to actually stick into the intersection's cross lanes.

I get the same thing all the time, I'm next to the fast lane, someone pulls up from behind going obviously much faster than I. Then as they start to "pass." they suddenly slow down enough that they're only crawling past me. Of course, they follow that by cutting me off within a few feet of my car and slowing down even further. Half the time I back off and move to another lane, they then cut me off a SECOND time... making wonder why this is happening to me.

I was driving my truck and a older woman riding a bike stopped in front of me instead of in the median on a 4 lane highway with turning lanes. I was driving at 40 mph in a semi. I barely stopped. She should not ride a Bike on a highway and because she dont know how ride a bike. people dont think anymore or just dont care.
THAT! Both, people don't care to think.
It irks me, when I'm forced to wait because some nitwit wants to turn, but refuses to use the lane thats marked for them to use! Same issues with the center lanes that are clearly marked for them.
Like I've mentioned before, people going the wrong way on the one-way street where the restaurant is. I mean, is it really that hard to realize that its a one-way? All the cars are parked facing the same way. There's a Do Not Enter sign on one end and TWO one-way signs on the opposite end. Plus, you don't have a traffic light facing you at the intersection. And yet, people are waiting there, complaining about not getting "their" light.
