miata wheels have a smaller center bore than the Fit's hub. they would need to be bored out

Nice i love roadsters. I plan on geting one again some time. I did have a S2k but traded it in. I needed a car with more room and could save me some money so i got back into a fit. Good luck with her though.

you should get one! lol.

Don't mind me, I'm just posting this here (and every other forum I have a build thread in) for my own reasons as a goal/calendar in case I forget lol

TURBO COUNTDOWN

August 2010

September 2010

$600

November 2010

December 2010

Oil filter relocation kit Flyin' Miata : :

Gauges

AEM Wideband kit Flyin' Miata : :
$210

Somewhere between July and September 2011
FM2 Hydra turbo kit Flyin' Miata : :
$5,300

If during that time, the FM2 kit is more than $2,000 away from my grasp, I'll just go with the cheaper Voodoo 2 kit Flyin' Miata : :

I forgot to add water/meth injection in this timeline...sonofabitch. We'll see how well I can stick to this plan. I made it so that I'd only spend about $500 a month on mods, which will leave rent and a few hundred for me to eat and spend on gas.

This is also assuming nothing terrible happens between now and next summer either with my health or the car's

Good luck buying all the turbo parts. Maybe each month look for a used part as well instead of just the brand new parts. Maybe that will speed this up a little.

finding used Flyin' Miata parts won't happen. The people who buy them, never part them because there's no need to. The only used parts I've seen are fucking rusty as shit and made of lesser quality. I don't want any of that crap. I want to know what I'm getting is reliable and new and won't give me any grief/issues.

Dear god. What were you thinking painting wheels (what looks like) Mariner Blue for a Montego Blue miata?

There is one of these for sale close to my home (in Québec)

Too bad I alrdeady have a Toyota MR2 :(

And even if it's a kei car, the beat isn't really smaller than a miata, I'm 6 feet 2, it was a tight fit but still able to drive decently, with a racing seat (gives a bit more head room and leg room) it would be fine, like in a miata.

Like on the M/T fit, the MPG would take benefits from a 6th longer gear. I had a ride in a miata 1.8 2 weeks ago, the engine was a bit annoying.

how was the engine annoying? lol. I'm just annoyed at how slow it is unless I rev the snot out of it. It needs more low/midrange. Forced Induction is necessary.

I have always loved the Honda Beat. If it was a feasible option, I would've bought one over the Miata.

The noise.
It's what 3200 rpm or so at 100kph (62mph)? The one I had a ride in was supercharged (1.8l) so no issue with the lack of power. A good challenger for my mr2 turbo on the race track.

But the beat is at 5000rpm at 60mph, so I won't say anything :D

I like the noise of the Miata engine. I don't like quiet cars. I'm very into rude and crude mechanical/road noise. At highway speeds it's still not so bad that conversation is impossible, but I'm driving alone 99% of the time anyway so I just deal with it.

Start a thread for your MR2. I cross-shopped that car before going with the MX5. I love MR2 Turbo's

I don't care a lot about noise (even if my ex 3 inches straight pipe was a bit too much), my car is a bit gutted since I do more lapping than DD, and my civic 1987 doesn't really have any sound proofing (and some exhaust leaks, and wind noise).

However, the miata 1.8 would probably ge better mpg with a sixth gear.

And my mr2 is taking a break for a while since it caught fire at my last track day (which is why I got a ride in the miata on the way back home).

Mine sees more DD than lapping but I still like to shed as much weight as possible. It's fun to me. I'll start tracking when I actually have the extreme amounts of money that is needed in doing that and the inevitable breaking of some shit. I simply can't afford track days right now, but I sure can afford to strip carpet and airbags and AC.

But for a DD removing the carpet maybe isn't worth it, cause you still won't feel much difference. And if you sell the car it's a pain in the ass to put everything back on.
And lapping can be affordable, especially with a miata. 150$ for new brake pads and fluid, 400$ for a set of tires that will last maybe 2 years if you don't use them too often (like one event a month), and 100-150$ for a day. Not cheap but I'm a student (at my parents home) and I have no issue. Still cheaper than a fit.

Project 300hp in 2011 is underway :)

That's a Garrett GT2560R turbo. Got a pretty good deal on it. $525. Less than 1k miles, no shaft play. Winter hibernation will allow me to sit at home and play videogames and not go out spending money, so I'll be saving for the rest of the parts for spring :)
