Yes Z28's are the Camaro's. Even the older 1998+ Camaro's with LS1 are still fast as of today.

Cool - It's a testament to the engineering powerhouse that GM once was that 50's and 60's engines continued in production as competitive units for so long - the small block dates to what, 1955? The 3800 V6 (now discontinued) goes back almost as far. Even the engines they scrapped sometimes had long lives (the Rocket 215 V8 became the Rover V8).
Most companies are most successful when they stick with their areas of expertise.

Yep, the 556 hp LSA from the CTS-V is going into the Z/28. As for the Z/24, that was for the Caviler and Beretta if I recall correctly. Here's some more info about it for those interested.
Spied! 2012 Chevrolet Camaro Z28
Its about time GM finally straightens out model coding too. Many people think that the SS is the superior model to the Z/28, but its actually the other way around.
When the 1st Gen. Camaro was produced they had two performance models, the SS and the Z/28. The SS was the straight line brawler, packing anywhere from a 327 to a 427 under the hood; on the other hand, the Z/28 was more of a road course car (for its time). It had power disc brakes, 4-speed trans (possibly the Muncie M22 Rock Crusher), upgraded suspension, and a 302 designed for Trans AM racing.
